They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way;

The Israelites traveled from Mount Hor along the way to the Red Sea. They wanted to go around Edom. But they grew tired on the way.

From Mount Hor they set out by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. And the people became impatient on the way.

以後，他們走過曠野，繞過以東地和摩押地，到了摩押地的東邊，在亞嫩河那邊安營；他們並沒有進入摩押境內，因為亞嫩河是摩押的邊界。

摩西這樣告訴以色列人，只是他們因為心裡愁煩和苦工的緣故，就不肯聽摩西的話。

以色列人從何珥山起行，在撒摩拿安營。

你們為甚麼使以色列人灰心，不過河到耶和華賜給他們的地那裡去呢？

他們上到以實各谷，看了那地，就使以色列人灰心，不進耶和華賜給他們的地那裡去。

現在亞瑪力人和迦南人住在山谷中，明天你們要回轉，從到紅海路上，起行到曠野去。”

不要與他們爭執；他們的地，連腳掌那麼大的一塊，我都不給你們，因為我已經把西珥山賜給以掃作產業。你們要用銀子向他們買食物吃；也要用銀子向他們買水喝。因為耶和華你的神，對於你手裡所作的一切事，都已經賜福給你；他也知道你怎樣走這大曠野；這四十年來，耶和華你們的神常與你同在，使你毫無缺乏。”’“於是我們離開我們住在西珥的兄弟以掃的子孫，繼續前行；沿著亞拉巴的路，到了以拉他和以旬．迦別，然後轉向摩押曠野的路去。

摩西就照著耶和華吩咐的行了，三人當著全體會眾的眼前上了何珥山。

以東王對使者說：“你不可從我這裡經過，免得我帶著刀出來攻擊你。”以色列人對他說：“我們要走大路上去，我們和牲畜若是喝了你的水，我必照價付你；不求別的事，只求你容我們步行經過。”以東王說：“你不可經過。”他就率領很多人出來，要用強硬的手攻擊以色列人。這樣，以東王不肯讓以色列人從他的境內經過，以色列人就離開他去了。以色列全體會眾從加低斯起行，到了何珥山。耶和華在以東地邊界的何珥山對摩西和亞倫說：

免得有人在各樣的患難中動搖了。你們自己知道，我們受患難原是命定的。我們在你們那裡的時候，早已對你們說過，我們將會遭受患難。後來應驗了，這是你們知道的。

堅固門徒的心，勸他們恆守所信的道，又說：“我們進入神的國，必須經歷許多苦難。”

至於你們，你們要轉回，經往紅海的路，起程到曠野裡去。’
