And Israel defeated him with the edge of the sword and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as to the Ammonites, for the border of the Ammonites was strong.

But the Israelites slaughtered them with their swords and occupied their land from the Arnon River to the Jabbok River. They went only as far as the Ammonite border because the boundary of the Ammonites was fortified.

以法蓮人集而北往、謂耶弗他曰、爾與亞捫族戰、而不招我偕往、曷故、我必以火燬爾、及爾第宅、耶弗他曰、我暨我民、與亞捫族大戰、我曾招爾、爾不救我脫於其手、

約但東日出之所、自亞嫩谷至黑門山、及東方亞拉巴全地、以色列人擊其二王、取其土地如左、亞摩利王西宏都希實本、其所轄之地、自亞嫩谷濱之亞羅珥、及谷中之邑、與基列之半、至亞捫界之雅博溪、又東方亞拉巴、至基尼烈海、又至東方亞拉巴之鹽海、通伯耶西末之道、南至毘斯迦山麓、

以色列之上帝耶和華、以西宏及其民眾、付於以色列人手、以色列人擊之、取亞摩利人所居之地、得亞摩利境、自亞嫩至雅博、自曠野至約但、以色列之上帝耶和華、既逐亞摩利人於其民前、則爾豈可得其地乎、

擊多國、戮強王、亞摩利王西宏、巴珊王噩、及迦南諸國兮、以其地為業、賜其民以色列兮、

瑪拿西半支派、及流便迦得二支派、已得其業於約但東、即耶和華僕摩西所予者、其地自亞嫩谷濱之亞羅珥、及谷中之邑、與米底巴平原全地、至於底本、暨都希實本之亞摩利王西宏諸邑、至亞捫族之界、

耶和華又諭我曰、我今以西宏及其地、始付於爾、據以為業、西宏率其民眾、出而攻我、戰於雅雜、我上帝耶和華付之於我、我遂擊之、爰及其子與民、取其諸邑、殲滅居民、暨厥婦孺、靡有孑遺、惟彼牲畜、與諸邑之財物、為我所得、自亞嫩谷濱之亞羅珥、及谷中之邑、至於基列、無一崇高之城、不為我所拔者、我上帝耶和華、盡付於我矣、惟亞捫人之境、即沿雅博溪之地、山中之邑、凡我上帝耶和華所禁者、爾未近之、
