At the summit, Moses removed the priestly garments from Aaron and put them on Eleazar, Aaron’s son. Then Aaron died there on top of the mountain, and Moses and Eleazar went back down.

我兒啊，現今願耶和華與你同在，使你亨通，建造耶和華－你上帝的殿，正如他指着你所說的。但願耶和華賜你聰明智慧，好按着他吩咐你的去治理以色列，遵行耶和華－你上帝的律法。

「我素常在你們中間到處傳講上帝的國；現在我知道，你們眾人以後不會再見到我的面了。所以我今日向你們作證，你們中間無論何人死亡，罪不在我。因為上帝一切的旨意，我並沒有退縮不傳給你們的。聖靈立你們作全羣的監督，你們就當為自己謹慎，也為全羣謹慎，牧養上帝的教會，就是他用自己血所買來的。我知道，在我離開以後必有兇暴的豺狼進入你們中間，不顧惜羊羣。

「你上摩押地的亞巴琳山脈，到面對耶利哥的尼波山去，看我所要賜給以色列人為業的迦南地。你必死在你所登的山上，歸到你祖先那裏，像你哥哥亞倫死在何珥山上，歸到他祖先那裏一樣。

「願耶和華，賜萬人氣息的上帝，立一個人治理會眾，可以在他們面前出入，引導他們進出，免得耶和華的會眾如同沒有牧人的羊羣一般。」耶和華對摩西說：「嫩的兒子約書亞是一個有聖靈的人；你要領他來，為他按手，使他站在以利亞撒祭司和全會眾面前，在他們眼前委派他，又將你的尊榮給他一些，好使以色列全會眾都聽從他。他要站在以利亞撒祭司面前；以利亞撒要憑烏陵的判斷，在耶和華面前為他求問。他和以色列全會眾都要照以利亞撒的指示出入。」於是摩西照耶和華所吩咐他的，將約書亞領來，使他站在以利亞撒祭司和全會眾面前，為他按手，委派他，是照耶和華藉摩西所說的。

我也要盡心竭力，使你們在我去世以後時常記念這些事。

於是耶和華的僕人摩西死在摩押地那裏，正如耶和華所說的。

另一方面，這位既是永遠留住的，他具有不可更換的祭司職任。所以，凡靠着他進到上帝面前的人，他都能拯救到底，因為他長遠活着為他們祈求。

以色列人出埃及地後四十年，五月初一，亞倫祭司遵照耶和華的指示，上何珥山，死在那裏。亞倫死在何珥山的時候一百二十三歲。住在迦南地尼革夫的迦南人亞拉得王聽說以色列人來了。以色列人從何珥山起行，安營在撒摩拿。從撒摩拿起行，安營在普嫩。從普嫩起行，安營在阿伯。從阿伯起行，安營在摩押境內的以耶‧亞巴琳。從以耶‧亞巴琳起行，安營在底本‧迦得。從底本‧迦得起行，安營在亞門‧低比拉太音。從亞門‧低比拉太音起行，安營在尼波前面的亞巴琳山脈。從亞巴琳山脈起行，安營在約旦河邊，耶利哥對面的摩押平原。他們在摩押平原，沿着約旦河安營，從伯‧耶施末直到亞伯‧什亭。

摩西召了約書亞來，在以色列眾人眼前對他說：「你當剛強壯膽！因為你要和這百姓一同進入耶和華向他們列祖起誓要給他們的地，你也要使他們承受那地為業。耶和華必在你前面行，他必親自與你同在，必不撇下你，也不丟棄你。你不要懼怕，也不要驚惶。」

耶和華賜我許多兒子，在我兒子中揀選我兒子所羅門坐耶和華國度的王位，治理以色列。耶和華對我說：『你兒子所羅門必建造我的殿和院宇，因為我揀選他作我的子，我也必作他的父。他若恆久遵行我的誡命典章如今日一樣，我就必堅定他的國，直到永遠。』現今在以色列眾人眼前，在耶和華的會中，在我們上帝的垂聽下，你們務要遵行並尋求耶和華－你們上帝的一切誡命，如此你們就可以承受這美地，並留給你們的子孫，永遠為業。「我兒所羅門哪，你當認識耶和華－你父的上帝，全心樂意地事奉他，因為耶和華鑒察眾人的心，知道一切心思意念。你若尋求他，他必使你尋見；你若離棄他，他必永遠丟棄你。

大衛又吩咐以色列的眾官長幫助他兒子所羅門：

嫩的兒子約書亞，因為摩西曾為他按手，他就被智慧的靈充滿。以色列人聽從他，照着耶和華所吩咐摩西的去做。
