At the summit, Moses removed the priestly garments from Aaron and put them on Eleazar, Aaron’s son. Then Aaron died there on top of the mountain, and Moses and Eleazar went back down.

“ During those days the Israelites traveled from Beeroth Bene-Yaaqan to Moserah. There Aaron died and was buried, and his son Eleazar became priest in his place.

“ The holy garments that belong to Aaron are to belong to his sons after him, so that they may be anointed in them and consecrated in them.The priest who succeeds him from his sons, when he first comes to the tent of meeting to minister in the Holy Place, is to wear them for seven days.

Remove Aaron’s priestly garments and put them on Eleazar his son, and Aaron will be gathered to his ancestors and will die there.”

“ Now, my son, may the LORD be with you! May you succeed and build a temple for the LORD your God, just as he announced you would.Only may the LORD give you insight and understanding when he places you in charge of Israel, so you may obey the law of the LORD your God.

“ And now I know that none of you among whom I went around proclaiming the kingdom will see me again.Therefore I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of you all.For I did not hold back from announcing to you the whole purpose of God.Watch out for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.I know that after I am gone fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.

“ Go up to this Abarim hill country, to Mount Nebo( which is in the land of Moab opposite Jericho) and look at the land of Canaan that I am giving to the Israelites as a possession.You will die on the mountain that you ascend and join your deceased ancestors, just as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and joined his deceased ancestors,

“ Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all humankind, appoint a man over the community,who will go out before them, and who will come in before them, and who will lead them out, and who will bring them in, so that the community of the LORD may not be like sheep that have no shepherd.”The LORD replied to Moses,“ Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is such a spirit, and lay your hand on him;set him before Eleazar the priest and before the whole community, and commission him publicly.Then you must delegate some of your authority to him, so that the whole community of the Israelites will be obedient.And he will stand before Eleazar the priest, who will seek counsel for him before the LORD by the decision of the Urim. At his command they will go out, and at his command they will come in, he and all the Israelites with him, the whole community.”So Moses did as the LORD commanded him; he took Joshua and set him before Eleazar the priest and before the whole community.He laid his hands on him and commissioned him, just as the LORD commanded, by the authority of Moses.

Indeed, I will also make every effort that, after my departure, you have a testimony of these things.

So Moses, the servant of the LORD, died there in the land of Moab as the LORD had said.

but he holds his priesthood permanently since he lives forever.So he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

Aaron the priest ascended Mount Hor at the command of the LORD, and he died there in the fortieth year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt on the first day of the fifth month.Now Aaron was 123 years old when he died in Mount Hor.The king of Arad, the Canaanite king who lived in the south of the land of Canaan, heard about the approach of the Israelites.They traveled from Mount Hor and camped in Zalmonah.They traveled from Zalmonah and camped in Punon.They traveled from Punon and camped in Oboth.They traveled from Oboth and camped in Iye-abarim, on the border of Moab.They traveled from Iim and camped in Dibon-gad.They traveled from Dibon-gad and camped in Almon-diblathaim.They traveled from Almon-diblathaim and camped in the mountains of Abarim before Nebo.They traveled from the mountains of Abarim and camped in the plains of Moab by the Jordan River across from Jericho.They camped by the Jordan, from Beth-jeshimoth as far as Abel-shittim in the plains of Moab.

Then Moses called out to Joshua in the presence of all Israel,“ Be strong and courageous, for you will accompany these people to the land that the LORD promised to give their ancestors, and you will enable them to inherit it.The LORD is indeed going before you– he will be with you; he will not fail you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or discouraged!”

From all the many sons the LORD has given me, he chose Solomon my son to rule on his behalf over Israel.He said to me,‘ Solomon your son is the one who will build my temple and my courts, for I have chosen him to become my son and I will become his father.I will establish his kingdom permanently, if he remains committed to obeying my commands and regulations, as you are doing this day.’So now, in the sight of all Israel, the LORD’s assembly, and in the hearing of our God, I say this: Carefully observe all the commands of the LORD your God, so that you may possess this good land and may leave it as a permanent inheritance for your children after you.“ And you, Solomon my son, obey the God of your father and serve him with a submissive attitude and a willing spirit, for the LORD examines all minds and understands every motive of one’s thoughts. If you seek him, he will let you find him, but if you abandon him, he will reject you permanently.

David ordered all the officials of Israel to support his son Solomon.

Now Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had placed his hands on him; and the Israelites listened to him and did just what the LORD had commanded Moses.
