我兒啊，現今願耶和華與你同在，使你亨通，照他指着你說的話，建造耶和華－你神的殿。但願耶和華賜你聰明智慧，好治理以色列國，遵行耶和華－你神的律法。

「我素常在你們中間來往，傳講神國的道；如今我曉得，你們以後都不得再見我的面了。所以我今日向你們證明，你們中間無論何人死亡，罪不在我身上。因為神的旨意，我並沒有一樣避諱不傳給你們的。聖靈立你們作全羣的監督，你們就當為自己謹慎，也為全羣謹慎，牧養神的教會，就是他用自己血所買來的。我知道，我去之後必有兇暴的豺狼進入你們中間，不愛惜羊羣。

「你上這亞巴琳山中的尼波山去，在摩押地與耶利哥相對，觀看我所要賜給以色列人為業的迦南地。你必死在你所登的山上，歸你列祖去，像你哥哥亞倫死在何珥山上，歸他的列祖一樣。

「願耶和華萬人之靈的神，立一個人治理會眾，可以在他們面前出入，也可以引導他們，免得耶和華的會眾如同沒有牧人的羊羣一般。」耶和華對摩西說：「嫩的兒子約書亞是心中有聖靈的；你將他領來，按手在他頭上，使他站在祭司以利亞撒和全會眾面前，囑咐他，又將你的尊榮給他幾分，使以色列全會眾都聽從他。他要站在祭司以利亞撒面前；以利亞撒要憑烏陵的判斷，在耶和華面前為他求問。他和以色列全會眾都要遵以利亞撒的命出入。」於是摩西照耶和華所吩咐的將約書亞領來，使他站在祭司以利亞撒和全會眾面前，按手在他頭上，囑咐他，是照耶和華藉摩西所說的話。

並且，我要盡心竭力，使你們在我去世以後時常記念這些事。

於是，耶和華的僕人摩西死在摩押地，正如耶和華所說的。

這位既是永遠常存的，他祭司的職任就長久不更換。凡靠着他進到神面前的人，他都能拯救到底；因為他是長遠活着，替他們祈求。

以色列人出了埃及地後四十年，五月初一日，祭司亞倫遵着耶和華的吩咐上何珥山，就死在那裏。亞倫死在何珥山的時候年一百二十三歲。住在迦南南地的迦南人亞拉得王聽說以色列人來了。以色列人從何珥山起行，安營在撒摩拿。從撒摩拿起行，安營在普嫩。從普嫩起行，安營在阿伯。從阿伯起行，安營在以耶‧亞巴琳，摩押的邊界。從以耶‧亞巴琳起行，安營在底本‧迦得。從底本‧迦得起行，安營在亞門‧低比拉太音。從亞門‧低比拉太音起行，安營在尼波對面的亞巴琳山裏。從亞巴琳山起行，安營在摩押平原－約旦河邊、耶利哥對面。他們在摩押平原沿約旦河邊安營，從伯‧耶施末直到亞伯‧什亭。

摩西召了約書亞來，在以色列眾人眼前對他說：「你當剛強壯膽！因為，你要和這百姓一同進入耶和華向他們列祖起誓應許所賜之地；你也要使他們承受那地為業。耶和華必在你前面行；他必與你同在，必不撇下你，也不丟棄你。不要懼怕，也不要驚惶。」

耶和華賜我許多兒子，在我兒子中揀選所羅門坐耶和華的國位，治理以色列人。耶和華對我說：『你兒子所羅門必建造我的殿和院宇；因為我揀選他作我的子，我也必作他的父。他若恆久遵行我的誡命典章如今日一樣，我就必堅定他的國位，直到永遠。』現今在耶和華的會中，以色列眾人眼前所說的，我們的神也聽見了。你們應當尋求耶和華－你們神的一切誡命，謹守遵行，如此你們可以承受這美地，遺留給你們的子孫，永遠為業。「我兒所羅門哪，你當認識耶和華－你父的神，誠心樂意地事奉他；因為他鑒察眾人的心，知道一切心思意念。你若尋求他，他必使你尋見；你若離棄他，他必永遠丟棄你。

大衛又吩咐以色列的眾首領幫助他兒子所羅門，說：

嫩的兒子約書亞；因為摩西曾按手在他頭上，就被智慧的靈充滿，以色列人便聽從他，照着耶和華吩咐摩西的行了。
