Again they answered:“ You may not pass through.” Then Edom came out against them with a large and powerful army.

Again the people of Edom answered,“ We won’t let you pass through here.” Then the people of Edom marched out against them. They came with a large and powerful army.

But he said,“ You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against them with a large army and with a strong force.

But the king of Edom replied,“ Stay out! You may not pass through our land.” With that he mobilized his army and marched out against them with an imposing force.

Yet Edom insisted,“ You may not travel through.” And they came out to confront them with a large force of heavily-armed people.

But he said,“ You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against him with a heavy force and a strong hand.

Then he said,“ You shall not pass through.” So Edom came out against them with many men and with a strong hand.

And he said, Thou shalt not pass through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.

Yet Edom insisted,“ You must not travel through.” And they came out to confront them with a large force of heavily-armed people.

遣使告以東王曰、盍容我過爾境。以東王不允、復遣使至摩押王、告以是言、亦不允、故以色列族居於迦鐵。

耶和華又曰、以東犯罪、至三至四、更逐兄弟、擊之以刃、絕無矜憫、挾怨傷人、藏怒不已、故我必罰其罪、

以東人曰、毋過我壤、恐我以刃擊爾。

西宏不許、乃集眾民、建營雅哈斯、與以色列族戰。

以掃因父為雅各祝嘏、懷恨雅各、竊言父喪伊邇、我必殺弟、

昔雅各家與以掃族、兄弟也、尚加以虐遇、故必抱愧、淪胥以亡、當日爾立於旁、見異邦人入其軍旅、入其邑門、為耶路撒冷人掣籤、爾若與同謀、向爾昆弟猶大、為人薄待、爾奚可旁觀、彼幾攖殺戮、爾奚可欣喜、彼備嘗困苦、爾奚可加以悔慢、我民遘難、所遭孔迫、爾奚可入其邑門、彼罹災害、爾奚可攘其貨財、如有免於難者、爾奚可立於險隘之區、絕其歸途、如有遺民、爾奚可因其艱難之日、付於敵手、耶和華督責列邦、其日伊邇、必視爾所為、以加諸爾、爾所作之事、必報應於一身、

以色列族、爾素所銜憾、彼受刑罰、遭患難、其日既屆、爾則加以鋒刃、戮其民人、故我耶和華指己而誓、爾既以殺人為悅、余必追襲、殲爾務盡、使西耳山岡、變為沙礫之場、往來之眾、俱遭翦滅、亡於刃者、不可勝數、山谷河濱、尸相枕藉、爾之邦國、恆為荒墟、爾之城邑、無人居處、俾知我乃耶和華。爾當言以色列猶大必歸於我、我得其土、不知彼二國者、為我耶和華所眷祐、故我耶和華指己而誓、因爾娼嫉我民、銜憾無已、俾爾遭慘報、我必罰爾、而施恩我民、

我惟平康是望、我啟口與之修睦、彼即與我戰鬥兮。

其人反告曰、吾儕至彼、見爾兄以掃、將率四百人來迎爾。
