曰爾毋過焉、以東王率其羣眾、大力以禦之、

曰、爾毋得過我疆宇。以東王率其全軍、大力以禦之、

以東王曰、爾決不得過、以東王帥軍眾多、大振威勢、出而欲攻以色列人、

Again they answered:“ You may not pass through.” Then Edom came out against them with a large and powerful army.

Again the people of Edom answered,“ We won’t let you pass through here.” Then the people of Edom marched out against them. They came with a large and powerful army.

But he said,“ You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against them with a large army and with a strong force.

But the king of Edom replied,“ Stay out! You may not pass through our land.” With that he mobilized his army and marched out against them with an imposing force.

Yet Edom insisted,“ You may not travel through.” And they came out to confront them with a large force of heavily-armed people.

But he said,“ You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against him with a heavy force and a strong hand.

Then he said,“ You shall not pass through.” So Edom came out against them with many men and with a strong hand.

And he said, Thou shalt not pass through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.

Yet Edom insisted,“ You must not travel through.” And they came out to confront them with a large force of heavily-armed people.

就派遣使者去見以東王，說：求你讓我們經過你的領土。以東王卻不答應；又派遣使者去見摩押王，摩押王也不肯；以色列人就住在加低斯。

“耶和華這樣說：‘以東三番四次犯罪，我必不收回懲罰他的命令；因為他拿刀追殺他的兄弟，沒有絲毫憐憫；他的怒氣不斷爆發，他的忿怒永不止息。

以東王對使者說：“你不可從我這裡經過，免得我帶著刀出來攻擊你。”

西宏卻不信任以色列人，不讓他們經過他的境界；西宏聚集了他所有的人民，在雅雜安營，與以色列人爭戰。

以掃因為他父親給雅各所祝的福，就懷恨雅各；以掃心裡想：“為我父親守喪的時候近了，到時我必殺我的弟弟雅各。”

因你對兄弟雅各行強暴，你必受羞辱，永被剪除。外地人劫掠雅各財物的日子，外族人進入他的城門，為耶路撒冷抽籤；那時你竟袖手旁觀，甚至好像他們中間的一分子！你兄弟遭遇禍患的日子，你不該看著不理；猶大人被滅的日子，你不該幸災樂禍；他們遭難的日子，你不該張口狂傲；我子民遭災的日子，你不該進入他們的城門；他們遭災的日子，你不該看著他們受苦；他們遭災的日子，你不該搶奪他們的財物。你不該站在岔路口，剪除他們中間逃脫的人；他們遭難的日子，你不該把他們生還的人交出來。耶和華的日子臨近萬國了，人必照你所行的向你施行，你的報應必歸到你的頭上。

因為你永遠懷恨，在以色列人遭遇災難，刑罰到了頂點的時候，你把他們交在刀劍之下，所以我指著我的永生起誓，我必使你遭受流血的報應，這血必追趕你；你既不恨惡流人的血，這血必追趕你。這是主耶和華的宣告。我必使西珥山非常荒涼，我必從那裡剪除來往的人。我必使西珥的眾山布滿了被殺的人；被刀劍所殺的人必倒在你的小山、山谷和所有的溪澗中。我必使你永遠荒涼，你的城市必沒有人居住；你們就知道我是耶和華。“‘因為你曾說：這兩國這兩邦都必歸我，我必得它們為業，但其實耶和華還是在那裡。所以我指著我的永生起誓：我必照著你因仇恨而向他們所發的忿怒和嫉妒對待你。我審判你的時候，必把自己顯明在他們中間。這是主耶和華的宣告。

我希望有和平，但我一說話，他們就要爭戰。

使者回到雅各那裡說：“我們到了你哥哥以掃那裡，他帶著四百人，正迎著你來。”
