但以东王仍然不准，还率领大军严阵以待。

Again they answered:“ You may not pass through.” Then Edom came out against them with a large and powerful army.

Again the people of Edom answered,“ We won’t let you pass through here.” Then the people of Edom marched out against them. They came with a large and powerful army.

But he said,“ You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against them with a large army and with a strong force.

But the king of Edom replied,“ Stay out! You may not pass through our land.” With that he mobilized his army and marched out against them with an imposing force.

Yet Edom insisted,“ You may not travel through.” And they came out to confront them with a large force of heavily-armed people.

But he said,“ You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against him with a heavy force and a strong hand.

Then he said,“ You shall not pass through.” So Edom came out against them with many men and with a strong hand.

And he said, Thou shalt not pass through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.

Yet Edom insisted,“ You must not travel through.” And they came out to confront them with a large force of heavily-armed people.

然后派遣使者去见以东王，说，‘求你让我们经过你的领土。’以东王却不答应。他们又派遣使者去见摩押王，摩押王也不答应。于是，以色列人就住在加低斯。

耶和华说：“以东人三番四次地犯罪，我必不收回对他们的惩罚，因为他们拔刀追赶自己的弟兄，没有半点怜悯之心；他们怒气不息，永怀愤怒。

以东王却说：“你们不可从我这里经过，否则我必兵戎相见。”

但西宏不信任以色列人，拒绝了他们的请求，并招聚全军驻扎在雅杂，攻打他们。

以扫因为父亲把祝福给了雅各，就对雅各怀恨在心，暗自思量说：“父亲已经不久人世，他死后，我要把雅各杀掉！”

“因你曾残暴地对待同胞兄弟雅各，你必蒙羞，永遭毁灭。外族人掠夺雅各的财物，攻入耶路撒冷抽签分赃时，你竟然袖手旁观，就像他们的同伙一样。你的亲族遭难之日，你不该幸灾乐祸；犹大人被灭的日子，你不该兴高采烈；他们遭难的日子，你不该口出狂言；我子民遭难的日子，你不该闯进他们的城；他们遭难的日子，你不该幸灾乐祸；他们遭难的日子，你不该趁火打劫；你不该站在路口截杀那些逃亡者；他们遭难的日子，你不该把幸存者交给仇敌。“耶和华惩罚万国的日子近了。必按你的所作所为报应你，你的恶行必落到自己头上。

因为你永怀仇恨，在以色列人遭遇危难、因罪恶受尽刑罚的时候，把他们交在刀下。所以主耶和华说，我凭我的永恒起誓，你既然不憎恨杀人流血之事，杀人流血之事必临到你。我要使西珥山荒凉不堪，消灭一切来往此地的人，我要使丧身刀下的人遍布你的高山、丘陵、山谷和溪流。我要使你永远荒废，你的城邑杳无人迹，这样你就知道我是耶和华。“‘因为你曾说，犹大和以色列必归我，即使上帝在那里，我们也要吞并他们。所以主耶和华说，我凭我的永恒起誓，你憎恨他们，满腹怒气和嫉妒，我也必这样对待你。我审判你的时候，以色列人就会认识我。

我爱和平，但我倡导和平的时候，他们却要战争。

报信的人回到雅各那里，说：“我们到了你哥哥以扫那里，他正带着四百人前来见你。”
