Now there was no water for the community, and the people gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron.

The people didn’t have any water. So they gathered together to oppose Moses and Aaron.

Now there was no water for the congregation. And they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.

“ I have heard the grumblings of the sons of Israel; speak to them, saying,‘ At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’ ”

Now the people became like those who complain of adversity in the ears of the Lord; and the Lord heard them and His anger was kindled, and the fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed some at the outskirts of the camp.The people then cried out to Moses; and Moses prayed to the Lord, and the fire died out.So that place was named Taberah, because the fire of the Lord burned among them.Now the rabble who were among them had greedy cravings; and the sons of Israel also wept again and said,“ Who will give us meat to eat?We remember the fish which we used to eat for free in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic;but now our appetite is gone. There is nothing at all to look at except this manna!”

When they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, because they were bitter; for that reason it was named Marah.So the people grumbled at Moses, saying,“ What are we to drink?”

Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroyer.Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

They assembled together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them,“ You have gone far enough! For all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is in their midst; so why do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”

So the people spoke against God and Moses:“ Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we are disgusted with this miserable food.”

Then all the congregation of the sons of Israel journeyed by stages from the wilderness of Sin, according to the command of the Lord, and camped at Rephidim, and there was no water for the people to drink.So the people quarreled with Moses and said,“ Give us water so that we may drink!” And Moses said to them,“ Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the Lord?”But the people were thirsty for water there; and they grumbled against Moses and said,“ Why is it that you have you brought us up from Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?”So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying,“ What am I to do with this people? A little more and they will stone me!”

But the whole congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.

and in the morning you will see the glory of the Lord, for He hears your grumblings against the Lord; and what are we, that you grumble against us?”
