Now there was no water for the community, and the people gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron.

The people didn’t have any water. So they gathered together to oppose Moses and Aaron.

And the people were as murmurers, speaking evil in the ears of Jehovah: and when Jehovah heard it, his anger was kindled; and the fire of Jehovah burnt among them, and devoured in the uttermost part of the camp.And the people cried unto Moses; and Moses prayed unto Jehovah, and the fire abated.And the name of that place was called Taberah, because the fire of Jehovah burnt among them.And the mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt for nought; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic:but now our soul is dried away; there is nothing at all save this manna to look upon.

And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

Neither murmur ye, as some of them murmured, and perished by the destroyer.Now these things happened unto them by way of example; and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.

And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, by their journeys, according to the commandment of Jehovah, and encamped in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.Wherefore the people strove with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why strive ye with me? Wherefore do ye tempt Jehovah?And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore hast thou brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?And Moses cried unto Jehovah, saying, What shall I do unto this people? They are almost ready to stone me.

And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness:

and in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of Jehovah; for that he heareth your murmurings against Jehovah: and what are we, that ye murmur against us?
