我儕呼籲主、主垂聽、遣使者導我出伊及、今我在迦叠、爾國之邊界、

在以色列營前行走神的使者，轉到他們後邊去；雲柱也從他們前邊轉到他們後邊立住。

我要差遣使者在你前面，攆出迦南人、亞摩利人、赫人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人，

「看哪，我差遣使者在你前面，在路上保護你，領你到我所預備的地方去。

耶和華的使者從荊棘裏火焰中向摩西顯現。摩西觀看，不料，荊棘被火燒着，卻沒有燒毀。摩西說：「我要過去看這大異象，這荊棘為何沒有燒壞呢？」耶和華神見他過去要看，就從荊棘裏呼叫說：「摩西！摩西！」他說：「我在這裏。」神說：「不要近前來。當把你腳上的鞋脫下來，因為你所站之地是聖地」；又說：「我是你父親的神，是亞伯拉罕的神，以撒的神，雅各的神。」摩西蒙上臉，因為怕看神。耶和華說：「我的百姓在埃及所受的困苦，我實在看見了；他們因受督工的轄制所發的哀聲，我也聽見了。我原知道他們的痛苦，我下來是要救他們脫離埃及人的手，領他們出了那地，到美好、寬闊、流奶與蜜之地，就是到迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人之地。現在以色列人的哀聲達到我耳中，我也看見埃及人怎樣欺壓他們。

過了多年，埃及王死了。以色列人因做苦工，就歎息哀求，他們的哀聲達於神。神聽見他們的哀聲，就記念他與亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所立的約。

法老臨近的時候，以色列人舉目看見埃及人趕來，就甚懼怕，向耶和華哀求。

我也聽見以色列人被埃及人苦待的哀聲，我也記念我的約。
