米利暗和亚伦因摩西娶了一个古实的女子而批评他，说：

因为会众在荀旷野反叛我的时候，你们二人没有按照我的指示取水，没有在他们面前尊我为圣。”耶和华指的是米利巴泉事件，发生在荀旷野的加低斯。

云彩从会幕上离开的时候，米利暗身上患了麻风病，像雪一样白。亚伦见状，

我们从离开加低斯·巴尼亚到穿过撒烈溪用了三十八年。期间，那一代战士都死光了，正如耶和华的誓言。

你们来对我说，‘我们要先派人去打探那地方，回来好告诉我们当走哪条路，当占哪些城。’我同意你们的建议，便从你们当中选出十二人，每支派选一人。

因为在荀旷野，在加低斯的米利巴泉旁，你和亚伦对我不忠，没有在以色列人中尊我为圣。

婴儿的姐姐远远地站着，要看看她的弟弟究竟会怎样。

我曾带领你们离开埃及，把你们从受奴役之地救赎出来，又差遣摩西、亚伦和米利暗引领你们。
