Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of them rods, one for each fathers’ house, of all their princes according to their fathers’ houses, twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod.

“ Speak to the Israelites and get twelve staffs from them, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write the name of each man on his staff.

“ Speak to the Israelites. Get 12 walking sticks from them. Get one from the leader of each of Israel’s tribes. Write the name of each man on his walking stick.

“ Speak to the people of Israel, and get from them staffs, one for each fathers’ house, from all their chiefs according to their fathers’ houses, twelve staffs. Write each man’s name on his staff,

“ Tell the people of Israel to bring you twelve wooden staffs, one from each leader of Israel’s ancestral tribes, and inscribe each leader’s name on his staff.

“ Speak to the Israelites and take one staff from them for each ancestral tribe, twelve staffs from all the leaders of their tribes. Write each man’s name on his staff.

“ Speak to the sons of Israel, and obtain from them a staff for each father’s household: twelve staffs, from all their leaders for their fathers’ households. You shall write each man’s name on his staff,

“ Speak to the children of Israel, and get from them a rod from each father’s house, all their leaders according to their fathers’ houses— twelve rods. Write each man’s name on his rod.

“ Speak to the Israelites and take one staff from them for each ancestral house, 12 staffs from all the leaders of their ancestral houses. Write each man’s name on his staff.

And fire is gone out of the rods of its branches, it hath devoured its fruit, so that there is in it no strong rod to be a sceptre to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.

And in the first place the standard of the camp of the children of Judah set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethanel the son of Zuar.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.And the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari, who bare the tabernacle, set forward.And the standard of the camp of Reuben set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Elizur the son of Shedeur.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.And the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and the others did set up the tabernacle against their coming.And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Elishama the son of Ammihud.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.And the standard of the camp of the children of Dan, which was the rearward of all the camps, set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ochran.And over the host of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan.

Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thy heritage, which dwell solitarily, in the forest in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

For there is a trial; and what if even the rod that contemneth shall be no more? saith the Lord Jehovah.

And thou shalt take in thy hand this rod, wherewith thou shalt do the signs.

And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you. Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.Of the children of Joseph: Of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud. Of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.These are they that were called of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.

And Jehovah said unto him, What is that in thy hand? And he said, A rod.

For the sceptre of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; That the righteous put not forth their hands unto iniquity.

Jehovah will send forth the rod of thy strength out of Zion: Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.

it is sharpened that it may make a slaughter; it is furbished that it may be as lightning: shall we then make mirth? the rod of my son, it contemneth every tree.

And those that encamp on the east side toward the sunrising shall be they of the standard of the camp of Judah, according to their hosts: and the prince of the children of Judah shall be Nahshon the son of Amminadab.And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.And those that encamp next unto him shall be the tribe of Issachar: and the prince of the children of Issachar shall be Nethanel the son of Zuar.And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.And the tribe of Zebulun: and the prince of the children of Zebulun shall be Eliab the son of Helon.And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.All that were numbered of the camp of Judah were a hundred thousand and fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred, according to their hosts. They shall set forth first.On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their hosts: and the prince of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur.And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.And those that encamp next unto him shall be the tribe of Simeon: and the prince of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.And the tribe of Gad: and the prince of the children of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel.And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty.All that were numbered of the camp of Reuben were a hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty, according to their hosts. And they shall set forth second.Then the tent of meeting shall set forward, with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps: as they encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place, by their standards.On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their hosts: and the prince of the children of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud.And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand and five hundred.And next unto him shall be the tribe of Manasseh: and the prince of the children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.And the tribe of Benjamin: and the prince of the children of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni.And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim were a hundred thousand and eight thousand and a hundred, according to their hosts. And they shall set forth third.On the north side shall be the standard of the camp of Dan according to their hosts: and the prince of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.And those that encamp next unto him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the prince of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ochran.And his hosts, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.And the tribe of Naphtali: and the prince of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan.And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

And thou, son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:and join them for thee one to another into one stick, that they may become one in thy hand.And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not show us what thou meanest by these?say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions; and I will put them with it, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in my hand.And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thy hand before their eyes.

The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh come; And unto him shall the obedience of the peoples be.
