然而你们是蒙拣选的族类，是君尊的祭司，是圣洁的国民，是属神的子民，为要叫你们宣扬那召你们出黑暗入奇妙光明者的美德。

主所爱的弟兄们，我们应该常常为你们感谢神，因为他从起初就拣选了你们，藉着圣灵成圣的工作，和你们对真道的信心，使你们可以得救。

亚哈看见了以利亚，就问他：“给以色列惹麻烦的这个人就是你吗？”以利亚说：“给以色列惹麻烦的，不是我，而是你和你父的家；因为你们离弃了耶和华的诫命，又去随从巴力。

就如创立世界以前，他在基督里拣选了我们，使我们因着爱，在他面前成为圣洁，没有瑕疵。

耶稣进了圣殿，正在教导人的时候，祭司长和民间的长老前来问他：“你凭什么权柄作这些事？谁给你这权柄？”耶稣回答他们：“我也要问你们一句话，如果你们告诉我，我就告诉你们我凭什么权柄作这些事。约翰的洗礼是从哪里来的呢？是从天上来的，还是从人来的呢？”他们就彼此议论：“如果我们说‘是从天上来的’，他会问我们‘那你们为什么不信他呢？’如果我们说‘是从人来的’，我们又怕群众，因为他们都认为约翰是先知。”于是回答耶稣：“我们不知道。”耶稣也对他们说：“我也不告诉你们，我凭什么权柄作这些事。
