摩西对亚伦说：“你要拿着香炉，把坛上的火盛在里头，又加上香，快快带到会众那里去，为他们赎罪，因为有震怒从耶和华面前出来，瘟疫已经开始了。”

他们要把你的典章教训雅各，把你的律法教训以色列；他们要把香焚在你面前，把全牲的燔祭献在你的祭坛上。耶和华啊，求你赐福他的能力，悦纳他手中的作为；那些起来攻击他和恨他的人，愿你刺透他们的腰，使他们不能再起来。”

可是我告诉你们，当爱你们的仇敌，为迫害你们的祈祷，

耶和华却喜悦把他压伤，使他受痛苦；耶和华若以他的性命作赎罪祭，他必看见后裔，并且得享长寿；耶和华所喜悦的，必在他手中亨通。他受了生命之苦以后，必看见光明，并且心满意足；我的义仆必使许多人因认识他而得称为义，他也必背负他们的罪孽。所以，我要使他与伟大的人同分，他必与强盛的均分掳物，因为他把自己的性命倾倒，以致于死。他被列在罪犯之中，却担当了多人的罪，又为罪犯代求。
