他们的所作所为触怒耶和华，以致瘟疫降在他们中间，

摩西和以色列全体会众正在会幕门口痛哭的时候，有个以色列人当着他们的面把一个米甸女子带进自家的帐篷。亚伦祭司的孙子、以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈看见了，便起身离开会众，拿着矛枪，跟着进入那人的帐篷，一枪刺透那对男女的腹部。以色列人当中的瘟疫马上止住了，

摩西对亚伦说：“取香炉来，里面放些坛上的火，添上香，赶快带到会众那里为他们赎罪，因为耶和华发怒了，瘟疫已经开始。”

他们把你的典章传授给雅各，把你的律法传授给以色列；他们要把香献在你面前，把全牲燔祭献在你的坛上。耶和华啊，求你赐他们力量，悦纳他们的工作，击碎仇敌的腰杆，使敌人一蹶不振。”

但我告诉你们，要爱仇敌，为迫害你们的人祷告。

然而，祂被压伤、受痛苦是耶和华的旨意；祂的性命作了赎罪祭。祂必看见自己的后裔，祂必长久活着。耶和华的旨意必在祂手中实现。祂必看见自己劳苦的成果，并心满意足。耶和华说：“我公义的仆人必凭祂的知识使许多人被算为义人，祂要担当他们的罪恶。我要使祂与伟人同享尊荣，跟强者同分战利品，因为祂奉献了自己的生命。祂被列在罪犯中，却担当了许多人的罪，又为罪人代求。”
