as the Lord directed him through Moses. This was to remind the Israelites that no one except a descendant of Aaron should come to burn incense before the Lord, or he would become like Korah and his followers.

He did just as the Lord had directed Moses to tell him to do. The covering would be a reminder to the Israelites. It would remind them that no one except a son of Aaron should come and burn incense to the Lord. If people other than priests did that, they would become like Korah and his followers.

to be a reminder to the people of Israel, so that no outsider, who is not of the descendants of Aaron, should draw near to burn incense before the Lord, lest he become like Korah and his company— as the Lord said to him through Moses.

This would warn the Israelites that no unauthorized person— no one who was not a descendant of Aaron— should ever enter the Lord’s presence to burn incense. If anyone did, the same thing would happen to him as happened to Korah and his followers. So the Lord’s instructions to Moses were carried out.

just as the LORD commanded him through Moses. It was to be a reminder for the Israelites that no unauthorized person outside the lineage of Aaron should approach to offer incense before the LORD and become like Korah and his followers.

as a reminder to the sons of Israel so that no layman, anyone who was not of the descendants of Aaron, would approach to burn incense before the Lord; then he would not become like Korah and his group— just as the Lord had spoken to him through Moses.

乌西雅强盛起来，就心高气傲，以致自寻毁灭，竟冒犯耶和华他的神；他进了耶和华的殿，要在香坛上烧香。跟随乌西雅进去的，有亚撒利雅祭司，还有耶和华的祭司八十个，都是英勇的人。他们阻止乌西雅王，对他说：“乌西雅啊，给耶和华烧香不是你应作的事，而是亚伦的子孙作祭司的事，他们是分别为圣作烧香的事；请离开圣所吧，因为你作了不应该作的事了，你必不能从耶和华神那里得着尊荣。”于是乌西雅十分忿怒，手里拿着香炉正要烧香，他向众祭司发怒的时候，就在耶和华的殿里香坛旁边众祭司的面前，他的额上忽然长出了大痲风。大祭司亚撒利雅和众祭司看着他，忽然见他的额上长了大痲风，就急忙催他出殿；他自己也急忙出去，因为耶和华击打了他。乌西雅王长大痲风直到死的时候；他既然长了大痲风，就住在一间隔离的房子里，不能进耶和华的殿。他的儿子约坦执掌朝政，治理国民。

在帐幕前面东边，就是在会幕前向日出的方向安营的，是摩西、亚伦和亚伦的儿子；他们代替以色列人应尽的职责，看守圣所；外人近前来，必被治死。

亚伦要在坛上烧香料做的香，每天早晨整理灯的时候，要烧这香。傍晚，亚伦点灯的时候，也要烧这香，在耶和华面前作你们世世代代不断的香。在这坛上，你们不可献上凡香、燔祭、素祭，也不可在这坛上浇奠祭。亚伦每年一次要在坛的四角上行赎罪礼，每一次他都要用赎罪祭牲的血在坛上行赎罪礼；你们世世代代都要这样行，这坛要归耶和华为至圣。”

他们要与你联合，也要守会幕的本分，办理会幕的一切事务；只是外人不可走近你们。你们要看守圣所和祭坛，免得震怒再临到以色列人。我已经把你们的亲族利未人，从以色列人中拣选出来，给你们作礼物献与耶和华，为要办理会幕的事。你和你的儿子，要与你一同守你们祭司的职分，办理一切属祭坛和幔子内的事；你们要这样供职。我把祭司的职分赐给你们作服事我的赏赐；外人若是近前来，必被处死。”

帐幕要起行的时候，利未人要把它拆卸下来；帐幕要支搭的时候，利未人要把它竖立起来；如果有外人走近，必须处死。

有一个神人，奉耶和华的命令，从犹大来到伯特利；那时，耶罗波安正站在祭坛旁边烧香。神人奉耶和华的命令，向那祭坛喊叫，说：“祭坛哪，祭坛哪，耶和华这样说：‘看哪，大卫家要生一个儿子，名叫约西亚；他要把邱坛的祭司，就是在你上面烧香的，作祭物献在你上面。人的骨头也要在你上面焚烧。’”那天，神人提出一个兆头，说：“这是耶和华所说的兆头。看哪，这祭坛必破裂，祭坛上的灰必倾撒下来。”

“所有外族人都不可吃圣物；寄居在祭司家里的人或是受雇的雇工，都不可吃圣物。
