They assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said to them,“ You have gone too far! For all in the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”

他們聚集了來攻擊摩西、亞倫說：『你們過分了；全會眾各人既都是聖別，永恆主又在他們中間，你們為甚麼高抬自己、超過永恆主的大眾呢？』

曰、爾逾分矣、會眾盡皆為聖、耶和華亦在其中、爾奚自大、欲超軼於耶和華之會眾乎、

集而攻摩西亞倫曰、爾之自尊踰分、會眾悉聖、主亦在其中、何爾自大、僭越主之會耶、

They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them,“ You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?”

They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron. They said to Moses and Aaron,“ You have gone too far! The whole community is holy. Every one in it is holy. And the Lord is with them. So why do you put yourselves above the Lord’ s people?”

They united against Moses and Aaron and said,“ You have gone too far! The whole community of Israel has been set apart by the Lord, and he is with all of us. What right do you have to act as though you are greater than the rest of the Lord’s people?”

They came together against Moses and Aaron and told them,“ You have gone too far! Everyone in the entire community is holy, and the LORD is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the LORD’s assembly?”

They assembled together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them,“ You have gone far enough! For all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is in their midst; so why do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”

They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them,“ You take too much upon yourselves, for all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”

And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them,[ Ye take] too much upon you, seeing all the congregation[ are] holy, every one of them, and the LORD[ is] among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?

And they assembled against Moses and Aaron, saying to them,“ You take too much upon yourselves, seeing that the whole community is holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the community of the LORD?”

They assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said to them,“ You take too much on yourself, since all the congregation are holy, everyone of them, and Yahweh is among them! Why do you lift yourselves up above Yahweh’s assembly?”

When men in the camp were jealous of Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the Lord,

and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”

and they will tell the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you, O Lord, are in the midst of this people. For you, O Lord, are seen face to face, and your cloud stands over them and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.

put fire in them and put incense on them before the Lord tomorrow, and the man whom the Lord chooses shall be the holy one. You have gone too far, sons of Levi!”

And do not presume to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

“ You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.

I will dwell among the people of Israel and will be their God.And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them. I am the Lord their God.

For they have taken some of their daughters to be wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy race has mixed itself with the peoples of the lands. And in this faithlessness the hand of the officials and chief men has been foremost.”

Therefore it is against the Lord that you and all your company have gathered together. What is Aaron that you grumble against him?”

For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical.But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.

Then all the congregation raised a loud cry, and the people wept that night.And all the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The whole congregation said to them,“ Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would that we had died in this wilderness!Why is the Lord bringing us into this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become a prey. Would it not be better for us to go back to Egypt?”And they said to one another,“ Let us choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”

“ What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the Lord; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats.“ When you come to appear before me, who has required of you this trampling of my courts?Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations— I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly.Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them.When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil,

You shall not defile the land in which you live, in the midst of which I dwell, for I the Lord dwell in the midst of the people of Israel.”

Our fathers refused to obey him, but thrust him aside, and in their hearts they turned to Egypt,

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Amend your ways and your deeds, and I will let you dwell in this place.Do not trust in these deceptive words:‘ This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’“ For if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you truly execute justice one with another,if you do not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own harm,then I will let you dwell in this place, in the land that I gave of old to your fathers forever.“ Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail.Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods that you have not known,and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say,‘ We are delivered!’— only to go on doing all these abominations?Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it, declares the Lord.Go now to my place that was in Shiloh, where I made my name dwell at first, and see what I did to it because of the evil of my people Israel.

Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married, for he had married a Cushite woman.And they said,“ Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has he not spoken through us also?” And the Lord heard it.

The chariots of God are twice ten thousand, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them; Sinai is now in the sanctuary.
