Isn’t it enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness? And now you also want to lord it over us!

You have brought us up out of a land that has plenty of milk and honey. You have brought us here to kill us in this desert. Isn’t that enough? Now do you also want to act as if you were ruling over us?

Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, that you must also make yourself a prince over us?

Isn’t it enough that you brought us out of Egypt, a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us here in this wilderness, and that you now treat us like your subjects?

Is it not enough that you brought us up from a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness? Do you also have to appoint yourself as ruler over us?

Is it not enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey to have us die in the wilderness, but you would also appoint yourself as master over us?

Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, that you should keep acting like a prince over us?

「百姓曾拒絕這位摩西，說，『誰立你作我們的首領和審判官？』上帝卻藉著在荊棘中顯現的天使親自差遣他，立他為首領和拯救者。

那人說：「你以為你是誰啊？誰立你做我們的首領和審判官？難道你要殺我，像殺那個埃及人一樣嗎？」摩西聽了，害怕起來，心想：「我做的事一定被人知道了。」

還記得在埃及的時候，我們不花錢就可以吃魚，還有黃瓜、西瓜、韭菜、蔥和蒜。

「我們還不如當初在埃及就死在耶和華手中。在那裡，我們至少可以圍在肉鍋旁吃個飽。現在，你把我們帶到曠野來，是要叫全體會眾餓死在這裡嗎？」

他們埋怨說：「還不如當初跟我們的弟兄一起死在耶和華面前！你們為什麼領耶和華的會眾到這曠野來，要叫我們和牲畜都死在這裡嗎？

過了多年，埃及王死了。以色列人受盡奴役，就哀歎呼求，聲音傳到上帝那裡。

於是，埃及人派監工強迫以色列人服勞役，在比東和蘭塞兩地為法老興建儲貨城。

他們埋怨摩西和亞倫說：「我們還不如死在埃及或曠野！

後來，法老命令全埃及的人把以色列人生的所有男嬰都拋進尼羅河裡，只讓女嬰活著。

「可是他的人民卻憎恨他，他們隨後派一個代表團去請願說，『我們不要這人作我們的王。』

摩西以為同胞們會明白上帝要藉著他的手拯救他們，可是他們並不明白。第二天，他看見兩個以色列人在打架，就上前勸解說，『大家都是同胞，為什麼互相毆打呢？』不料那個欺負人的推開摩西說，『誰立你作我們的首領和審判官？

世上的君王一同行動，官長聚集商議，要抵擋耶和華和祂所膏立的王。他們說：「讓我們掙斷他們的鎖鏈，脫去他們的捆索！」

百姓非常口渴，他們向摩西抱怨說：「你為什麼要把我們帶出埃及，讓我們一家大小和牲畜都在這裡渴死？」
