他说：“我指着耶和华的宝座发誓，耶和华必世世代代和亚玛力争战。”

以色列犯了罪，又违背了我所吩咐他们的约，又取了当灭之物。他们又偷窃，又行诡诈，又把那当灭的物与自己的器皿放在一起。因此，以色列人在仇敌面前站立不住。他们在仇敌面前转身逃跑，因为他们成了当灭的物。你们若不把当灭的物从你们中间除掉，我就不再与你们同在了。

艾城的人击杀他们约三十六人，从城门前追赶他们，直到示巴琳，在下坡的地方击败他们。他们都胆战心惊，融化如水。
