遂相議曰、莫若立帥、以歸埃及、

And they said to each other,“ We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”

They said to one another,“ We should choose another leader. We should go back to Egypt.”

And they said to one another,“ Let us choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”

Then they plotted among themselves,“ Let’s choose a new leader and go back to Egypt!”

So they said to one another,“ Let’s appoint a leader and go back to Egypt.”

So they said to one another,“ Let us select a leader and return to Egypt.”

And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

So they said to one another,“ Let’s appoint a leader and go back to Egypt.”

Our fathers were unwilling to be obedient to him; on the contrary they rejected him and turned back to Egypt in their hearts,

In any case, he is not to acquire many horses for himself, nor shall he make the people return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since the Lord has said to you,‘ You shall never again return that way.’

“ But they, our fathers, acted arrogantly; They became stubborn and would not listen to Your commandments.They refused to listen, And did not remember Your wondrous deeds which You performed among them; So they became stubborn and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But You are a God of forgiveness, Gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger and abounding in mercy; And You did not abandon them.

For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them.It has happened to them according to the true proverb,“ A dog returns to its own vomit,” and,“ A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”

And the Lord will bring you back to Egypt in ships, by the way about which I said to you,‘ You will never see it again!’ And there you will offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but there will be no buyer.”

And indeed if they had been thinking of that country which they left, they would have had opportunity to return.

But My righteous one will live by faith; And if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.But we are not among those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith for the safekeeping of the soul.
