Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness.

主耶和華又曰、因爾違逆予、遐棄予、必負爾行淫之罪。

昔自離迦鐵巴尼亞時、至渡西勒溪時、三十有八年、於斯時也、斯代之軍士、尸骸消滅、應耶和華所矢之言、

耶和華甚怒、使以色列族遊於曠野、歷四十年、迨及斯代之民、違逆耶和華者、尸骸消滅。

民牧則黜其位、流亡於野、在人跡不至之所兮、

先知曰、以色列族毋庸欣喜、同於異邦人、蓋爾曹狥欲、違逆上帝、在彼穀場、望人投贈、

維彼曠野、人蹤罕至、於時迷途、四無城郭、可以棲息兮、

出埃及後四十年、十一月朔、摩西循耶和華命諭以色列族。

有言出妻、任其他適、既出勿納、恐斯邦染其污衊。耶和華曰、惟爾縱欲背予、崇事他上帝、今使爾歸試於我、曠覽崇坵、何往非爾狥欲之地、爾憩坐途側以惑眾、若亞喇伯人、潛身曠野以害人、爾作惡縱欲、污衊斯邦。

為義之人、必罰斯婦之罪、與淫行殺人者同科。主耶和華曰、我必率眾、攻斯二女、攘奪劫掠之、擊之以石、殺之以刃、戮其子女、焚其宅第、使斯土之人不染淫風、俾眾女不效爾尤、爾既行淫、崇拜偶像、必負罪遭刑、俾知我乃耶和華。

今我尚存、皆出耶和華所賜、自耶和華諭摩西、歷以色列族遨遊於野之時、四十五年、踐其前言、今我年已八十有五。

其後夫必無愆、婦必負罪。
