Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness.

自從我們離開加低斯巴尼亞、到過了撒烈谿谷的時候、這其間的日子共有三十八年，等那世代的戰士都從營間滅盡了，你們才得過去，照永恆主向他們所起的誓。

永恆主向以色列人發怒，就使他們在曠野流離四十年，等到在永恆主眼前行壞事的那一代人都滅盡了。

他向王子身上傾倒下侮辱，使他在荒蕪沒路之地漂流無定。

以色列啊，不要歡喜！不要快樂像列族之民哦！因為你行了淫離棄你的上帝，在各穀場上如妓女喜愛淫資。

有人漂流於曠野、於荒地，找不着路到可住的城；

出埃及後第四十年、十一月一日、已經擊敗了住希實本的亞摩利人的王西宏、和住亞斯他錄跟以得來的巴珊王噩以後，摩西就照永恆主所吩咐他的一切話語都告訴以色列人。

永恆主的話傳與我，說：『人若把妻子離出去，而妻子離開他而去，做了別人的妻子，她哪能再回轉來歸前夫呢？那麼那婦人豈不是大大被玷污了麼？然而你，你和許多情人行淫，還要回轉來歸於我？永恆主發神諭說。你向無草木的高處舉目看吧！在哪一個地方你沒有受過蹧蹋？你坐在路旁等候情人，好像亞拉伯人在曠野埋伏着一樣：你竟用你的淫行和邪惡把這地都沾污了。

但必有義人按判決姦婦的判例和判決流人血的判例來判罰她們；因為她們是姦婦；她們手中有殺人的血。』因為主永恆主這麼說：『讓一幫人上來攻擊她們吧！使她們成為令人不寒而慄、令人擄掠的對象吧！這一幫人必扔石頭把她們砍死，用刀劍把她們砍殺；她們的兒女他們要殺戮；她們的房屋他們要放火燒。這樣、我就使淫蕩從這境內止息，好使一切婦人都受警告不敢效法你們的淫蕩而行。你們淫蕩的報應必加於你們身上；你們拜你們的偶像之罪罰、你們要自己擔當；你們就知道我乃是主永恆主。』

現在你看，自從永恆主對摩西說了這句話以後、永恆主便照他所應許的使我活了這四十五年，就是以色列人在曠野漂流的時間；現在你看我，我今日已是個八十五歲人了。

男人免受罪罰，那婦人呢、卻要擔受她自己的罪罰。』

以色列人出了埃及地以後四十年、五月一日、祭司亞倫照永恆主所吩咐的上何珥山，就死在那裏。
