not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.

So not even one of them will ever see the land I promised to give to their people of long ago. The person who has not respected me will never see it.

We will go up and fight, according to all that Yahweh our God commanded us.” Every man of you put on his weapons of war, and presumed to go up into the hill country.Yahweh said to me,“ Tell them,‘ Don’t go up and don’t fight; for I am not among you, lest you be struck before your enemies.’”So I spoke to you, and you didn’t listen; but you rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh, and were presumptuous, and went up into the hill country.The Amorites, who lived in that hill country, came out against you and chased you as bees do, and beat you down in Seir, even to Hormah.You returned and wept before Yahweh; but Yahweh didn’t listen to your voice, nor turn his ear to you.

With whom was he displeased forty years? Wasn’t it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?To whom did he swear that they wouldn’t enter into his rest, but to those who were disobedient?

Therefore I swore in my wrath,“ They won’t enter into my rest.”

Therefore he swore to them that he would overthrow them in the wilderness,

For we who have believed do enter into that rest, even as he has said,“ As I swore in my wrath, they will not enter into my rest;” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

You also multiplied their children as the stars of the sky, and brought them into the land concerning which you said to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.
