必不得見我所誓於厥祖之地、凡輕視我者、皆不得見之、

緣其欺我、故我所誓、錫厥祖之地、彼不能覯止、

必不得見我所誓賜其列祖之地、凡棄我者、皆不得見之、

not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.

So not even one of them will ever see the land I promised to give to their people of long ago. The person who has not respected me will never see it.

『凡從埃及上來二十歲以上的人，斷不得看見我對亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓應許之地，因為他們沒有專心跟從我；

這些被數的人中，沒有一個是摩西和亞倫祭司先前在西奈曠野所數的以色列人，

並且我在曠野向他們起誓，必不領他們進入我所賜的流奶與蜜之地，就是全地中最美好之地；

『這邪惡世代的人，一個也不得看見我起誓要賜給你們列祖的美地；惟有耶孚尼的兒子迦勒必得看見，並且我要將他所踏過的地賜給他和他的子孫，因為他專心跟從我。』耶和華也因你們的緣故向我發怒，說：『你也不得進入那地。那侍候你，嫩的兒子約書亞必得進入那地。你要勉勵他，因為他要使以色列承受那地為業。你們的孩子，你們說要成為擄物的，就是今日尚不知善惡的兒女，必進入那地。我要將那地賜給他們，他們必得為業。至於你們，要轉回，從紅海的路往曠野去。』「你們回答我說：『我們得罪了耶和華！現在我們願遵照耶和華－我們上帝一切所吩咐的上去爭戰。』於是你們各人帶着兵器，以為很容易就能上到山區去。耶和華對我說：『你對他們說：不要上去，也不要爭戰，因我不在你們中間，恐怕你們在仇敵面前被擊敗。』我就告訴了你們，你們卻不聽從，竟違背耶和華的指示，擅自上到山區去。住在那山區的亞摩利人像蜂羣一樣出來迎擊你們，追趕你們，在西珥擊敗你們，直到何珥瑪。你們就回來，在耶和華面前哭泣；耶和華卻不聽你們的聲音，也不向你們側耳。

上帝向誰發怒四十年之久呢？豈不是那些犯罪而陳屍在曠野的人嗎？他向誰起誓，不容他們進入他的安息呢？豈不是向那些不信從的人嗎？

所以，我在怒中起誓：「他們斷不可進入我的安息！」

所以他向他們起誓，必叫他們倒在曠野，

但我們已經信的人進入安息，正如上帝所說：「我在怒中起誓：他們斷不可進入我的安息！」其實造物之工，從創世以來已經完成了。

你使他們的子孫多如天上的星，帶他們到你對他們祖先說要進去得為業之地。
