not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.

So not even one of them will ever see the land I promised to give to their people of long ago. The person who has not respected me will never see it.

You rebelled against the Lord’s command and in your arrogance you marched up into the hill country.The Amorites who lived in those hills came out against you; they chased you like a swarm of bees and beat you down from Seir all the way to Hormah.You came back and wept before the Lord, but he paid no attention to your weeping and turned a deaf ear to you. And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness?And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? (niv)

So I declared on oath in my anger,‘ They shall never enter my rest.’” (niv)

So he swore to them with uplifted hand that he would make them fall in the wilderness, (niv)

Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,“ So I declared on oath in my anger,‘ They shall never enter my rest.’” And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world. (niv)

You made their children as numerous as the stars in the sky, and you brought them into the land that you told their parents to enter and possess. (niv)
