not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.

So not even one of them will ever see the land I promised to give to their people of long ago. The person who has not respected me will never see it.

‘从埃及上来二十岁及以上的人，必不得看见我对亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓应许的地，因为他们没有专心跟从我。

这些人中间，没有一个是摩西和亚伦祭司从前在西奈旷野数点以色列人的时候，数点过的。

我在旷野也曾经向他们举手起誓，必不领他们到我赐给他们的流奶与蜜之地，就是万邦中最荣美的地。

‘这个邪恶世代的人，连一个也不能看见我起誓应许赐给他们列祖的美地；只有耶孚尼的儿子迦勒可以看见；并且我要把他踏过的地赐给他和他的子孙，因为他专心跟从了我耶和华。’因为你们的缘故，耶和华也向我发怒，说：‘你也不能进入那地；但是站在你面前侍候你的嫩的儿子约书亚，他可以进到那里去；你要鼓励他，因为他要使以色列人承受那地为业。还有你们的小孩子，你们说要被掳掠的，和你们的儿女，就是今天还不知道善恶的，他们都要进入那地；我要把那地赐给他们，他们要占领那地。至于你们，你们要转回，经往红海的路，起程到旷野里去。’“那时你们回答我，说：‘我们得罪了耶和华；现在我们愿意照着耶和华我们神的一切吩咐，上去作战。’于是你们都预备了兵器，轻率地上山去了。耶和华对我说：‘你要对他们说：“你们不要上去，也不要作战，因为我不在你们中间，免得你们在仇敌面前被击败。”’我就告诉你们，你们却不听从，竟违背耶和华的吩咐，擅自上山去了。住在那山上的亚摩利人，就出来攻击你们，好像蜂群一样追赶你们，在西珥击杀你们，直到何珥玛。你们就回来，在耶和华面前哭，但耶和华不听你们的声音，也不向你们侧耳。

四十年之久，神向谁发怒呢？不就是向那些犯了罪陈尸旷野的人吗？他又向谁起誓说，他们绝对不可以进入他的安息呢？不就是向那些不顺从的人吗？

所以我在忿怒中起誓，说：“他们绝不可进入我的安息。”

所以他对他们起誓，必使他们倒在旷野，

然而我们信了的人，就可以进入那安息。正如神所说：“我在烈怒中起誓说，他们绝不可进入我的安息！”其实神的工作，从创立世界以来已经完成了。

你使他们的子孙众多，像天上的星星那么多；你把他们带进你应许他们的列祖要进去得为业的那地。
