All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them,“ If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness!

The Israelites spoke against Moses and Aaron. The whole community said to them,“ We wish we had died in Egypt or even in this desert.

And all the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The whole congregation said to them,“ Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would that we had died in this wilderness!

Their voices rose in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron.“ If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!” they complained.

All the Israelites complained about Moses and Aaron, and the whole community told them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had died in this wilderness!

And all the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron; and the entire congregation said to them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or even if we had died in this wilderness!

And all the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness!

And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would that we had died in this wilderness!

All the Israelites complained about Moses and Aaron, and the whole community told them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had died in this wilderness!

And all the Israelites murmured against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had perished in this wilderness!

All the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. The whole congregation said to them,“ We wish that we had died in the land of Egypt, or that we had died in this wilderness!

人民就向摩西發怨言說：『我們喝甚麼？』

第二天、以色列人全會眾都向摩西、亞倫發怨言、說：『是你們二人把永恆主的人民害死了的。』

你們行事、都不要發怨言、起爭論，好使你們無可責備、而又天真，在彎曲乖僻的世代中做上帝的兒女、無瑕無疵；你們顯於其中像發光之體在世界裏，

這些人是好怨尤的埋怨者，順着自己的私慾走，口中說膨脹的話，為着利益而以貌媚人。

你們也不要唧唧咕咕地埋怨，像他們有人唧咕埋怨了，就被毁滅者所滅。

人民在那裏渴得要水喝，就向摩西發怨言說：『你這個人為甚麼將我們從埃及領出來，要使我們和兒女跟牲畜都渴死呢？』

現在呢、永恆主啊，把我的性命取去吧！因為我死了比活着還好。』

以色列人全會眾在曠野向摩西、亞倫發怨言；以色列人對他們說：『巴不得我們在埃及地早死在永恆主手裏；那時我們坐在肉鍋旁邊，喫餅喫到飽飽地，你們竟將我們領出來、到這曠野，要叫這全體大眾都餓死啊！』

日出時，上帝又安排了炎熱的東風，日頭曬了約拿的頭，以致他暈過去，他就為自己求死，說：『我死了比活着還好。』

你既這樣待我，我若在你面前蒙恩，求你乾脆將我殺掉，免得我見自己的苦處。』

人民發了怨言、將苦處訴給永恆主聽；永恆主聽了，就發怒；永恆主的火便在他們中間燒着，燒燬了營盤一些邊地。

『這些向我發怨言的壞會眾、我容忍他們要到幾時呢？以色列人哀怨我的牢騷話、我都聽見了。你要告訴他們說：「永恆主發神諭說：我指着永活的我來起誓，你們既說給我親耳聽見了，我就一定要照你們所說的待你們。你們的屍身必倒斃在這曠野；你們凡被點閱過的、按你們的總數、從二十歲和以上的、凡向我發怨言的、

他們竟棄絕了那可喜愛之地，不信上帝的話，

在帳棚裏埋怨說：「永恆主因為恨我們，所以將我們從埃及地領出來，要把我們交在亞摩利人手中、來消滅我們。

以致我寧肯噎死，寧肯死亡，勝似留我這一身骨頭。我厭棄性命；我不願永遠活着；不要管我；因為我的日子都是虛幻。

我為甚麼不從母胎就死去？為甚麼不出母腹就氣絕呢？

於是他為了他們的緣故就記起他的約，照他堅愛之豐盛而後悔；

自己卻進曠野、走了一天的路程，來到一棵羅騰樹下，就坐在那裏為自己求死，說：『罷了！永恆主啊，現在取我的性命吧！因為我並不比我列祖強。』
