All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them,“ If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness!

The Israelites spoke against Moses and Aaron. The whole community said to them,“ We wish we had died in Egypt or even in this desert.

And all the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The whole congregation said to them,“ Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would that we had died in this wilderness!

Their voices rose in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron.“ If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!” they complained.

All the Israelites complained about Moses and Aaron, and the whole community told them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had died in this wilderness!

And all the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron; and the entire congregation said to them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or even if we had died in this wilderness!

And all the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness!

And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would that we had died in this wilderness!

All the Israelites complained about Moses and Aaron, and the whole community told them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had died in this wilderness!

And all the Israelites murmured against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had perished in this wilderness!

All the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. The whole congregation said to them,“ We wish that we had died in the land of Egypt, or that we had died in this wilderness!

百姓就埋怨摩西说：“我们喝什么呢？”

第二天，以色列全体会众都埋怨摩西和亚伦说：“你们害死了耶和华的子民。”

无论做什么事，都不要抱怨，也不要与人争论，好使你们在这个弯曲败坏的时代中无可指责、诚实无伪，做上帝纯洁无瑕的儿女，如同明光照耀在世上，

这些人满腹牢骚，怨天尤人，放纵自己的邪情私欲。他们口出狂言，为了谋利而阿谀奉承他人。

也不要发怨言，像他们当中的人那样，结果被灭命的天使毁灭了。

百姓非常口渴，他们向摩西抱怨说：“你为什么要把我们带出埃及，让我们一家大小和牲畜都在这里渴死？”

耶和华啊，求你收回我的性命吧，我死了比活着还好！”

以色列全体会众在旷野向摩西和亚伦发怨言说：“我们还不如当初在埃及就死在耶和华手中。在那里，我们至少可以围在肉锅旁吃个饱。现在，你把我们带到旷野来，是要叫全体会众饿死在这里吗？”

太阳出来的时候，上帝刮起燥热的东风，烈日把约拿晒得发昏，他就再次求死说：“我死了比活着还好！”

你既然这样对待我，求你施恩杀了我吧，别让我受苦了！”

民众因为困难而发怨言，传到耶和华耳中。耶和华听见后便向他们发怒，使火在他们中间燃烧，烧毁了营地的边缘部分。

“这邪恶的会众向我发怨言要到何时呢？我已听见以色列人对我的埋怨。你们去把我的话告诉他们，‘以色列人啊，我凭我的永恒起誓，我必照你们所说的对待你们。你们当中凡登记在册、二十岁以上向我发怨言的人，必倒毙在这旷野中，

他们藐视那佳美之地，不相信祂的应许。

你们在帐篷中埋怨说，‘耶和华憎恨我们，所以才领我们离开埃及，要把我们交在亚摩利人手里，让他们消灭我们。

以致我宁愿窒息而死，也不愿这样活着。我厌恶生命，不想永活。不要管我，因为我的日子都是虚空。

“为何我不出生时就夭折，出母胎时就断气？

祂没有忘记与他们立的约，因祂伟大无比的爱而怜悯他们。

自己在旷野走了一天的路程，来到一棵罗腾树下，坐下来祷告求死，说：“耶和华啊，我受够了，求你取走我的性命吧，我不比我的祖先强。”
