‘ The Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.’

‘ I am the Lord. I am slow to get angry. I am full of love. I forgive those who sin. I forgive those who refuse to obey. But I do not let guilty people go without punishing them. I cause the sin of the parents to affect their children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.’

不可敬拜它們，也不可事奉它們，因為我永恆主你的上帝是忌邪的上帝；恨我的、我必察罰他們的罪愆、從父親到兒子、到三四代。

永恆主有恩惠，有憐憫，不輕易發怒，而有宏大的堅愛。

他就禱告永恆主說：『哦永恆主啊，我還在我本地的時候、不就這樣說了麼？故此我才急速逃往他施啊；因為我知道你是有恩惠有憐憫的上帝，不輕易發怒，而有豐盛的堅愛，並且能改變心意不降所說的災禍。

永恆主是忌邪、是行報應的上帝；永恆主施行着報應，而且滿有烈怒。永恆主向他的敵人行報應，他向他的仇敵懷怒。永恆主不輕易發怒，而是大有能力；永恆主絕不以有罪的為無罪。他所行的路乃在狂風暴雨中，雲彩是他腳下的飛塵。

永恆主有憐憫、有恩惠，不輕易發怒，而有豐盛的堅愛。

有哪一位神能比得上你、赦免罪孽、不追究你產業之餘民的過犯呢？他不永遠懷怒，因為他喜悅堅愛。

不可跪拜它們，也不可事奉它們，因為我永恆主你的上帝是忌邪的上帝；恨我的、我必察罰他們的罪愆、從父親到兒子，到三四代。

都因上帝恩惠中白白的恩、憑着那在基督耶穌裏的贖放、得稱為義。這耶穌、上帝顯然立為除罪法，憑着人的信、本着耶穌的血、來做上帝救人之義的明證。因為上帝用他的寬容、對人先時所犯的罪過都不追究，好在現今的時期做他救人之義的明證，來顯明他自己為義，也是叫信耶穌的人得以稱義的。

因此永恆主以色列的上帝為了斥責那些牧養他人民的牧民者就這麼說：『你們、使我的羊羣四散，而趕逐他們，並沒有巡察而看顧他們。看吧，我必鑒察你們行為之敗壞而察罰你們：這是永恆主發神諭說的。

以致罪在死中怎樣掌了王權，恩典也可以藉着救人之義怎樣掌王權，使人藉着我們的主耶穌基督得永生。

在這蒙愛者裏面、我們藉着他的血得贖放，過犯得赦免，都照上帝恩典之豐富。他曾使這恩典充盈滿溢地流給我們，使我們有全備的智慧和明達、
