‘ The Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.’

耶和华有恩典和怜悯，不轻易发怒，充满慈爱。

他向耶和华祷告说：“耶和华啊，我在家乡的时候岂不早就说过你会这样做吗？我知道你是一位有恩典、有怜悯的上帝，不轻易发怒，充满慈爱，不忍心降灾，所以我才急速逃往他施。

耶和华是痛恨不贞、施行报应的上帝。耶和华施行报应，充满烈怒。耶和华报应祂的仇敌，向他们发烈怒。耶和华不轻易发怒，有伟大的能力。耶和华断不以有罪的为无罪。祂行走在旋风和暴风中，云彩是祂脚下的尘土。

耶和华有怜悯和恩典，不轻易发怒，充满慈爱。

有何神明像你一样赦免罪恶，饶恕你幸存子民的过犯？你不会永远发怒，因为你乐于施恩。

不可跪拜它们，也不可供奉它们，因为我——你的上帝耶和华痛恨不贞，我必追讨背弃我之人的罪，从父到子直到三四代。

但蒙上帝的恩典，靠着基督耶稣的救赎，世人被无条件地称为义人。上帝使基督耶稣成为赎罪祭，以便人借着相信耶稣的宝血可以得到赦免。这是为了显明上帝的义，因为祂用忍耐的心宽容人过去的罪，好在现今显明祂的义，使人知道祂是公义的，祂也称信耶稣的为义人。

以色列的上帝耶和华这样斥责那些统治祂子民的首领：“你们驱散我的子民，没有照顾他们。看啊，我必因你们的恶行而惩罚你们。这是耶和华说的。

罪怎样掌权带来死亡，恩典也照样借着义掌权，为要借着我们主耶稣基督带来永生。

我们借着祂爱子的血蒙救赎，过犯得到赦免，这都是出于祂的洪恩。上帝用各种智慧和聪明把这恩典丰丰富富地赐给我们，
