在那些日子和以後的日子，有巨人在地上；神的兒子和人的女子結合，就生了上古英武有名的人物。

在迦特又有一場戰事，那裡有一個身量高大的人，手腳都各有六個指頭，總數是二十四個；這人也是巨人所生的。這人向以色列人罵陣，大衛的哥哥示米亞的兒子約拿單把他擊殺了。以上這四個人都是迦特城裡那個巨人所生的，都死在大衛和大衛臣僕的手下。

他又殺死了一個身高兩百多公分的埃及人。這埃及人手裡拿著矛槍，好像織布機軸，比拿雅只拿著棍子下去會他，竟從那埃及人手中把矛槍奪了過來，再用他的矛槍把他殺死。

那非利士人觀看，看見了大衛，就藐視他，因為他年紀還輕，面色紅潤，外貌英俊。
