瑣安的領袖非常愚昧，法老那些最有智慧的謀士所籌算的，都成為愚昧。你們怎能對法老說：“我是智慧人的兒子，是古代君王的後裔”呢？

他們的領袖雖然已在瑣安，他們的使臣雖然已到達哈內斯，

約書亞照著耶和華所吩咐的，把猶大人的一份地業，就是基列．亞巴，分給了耶孚尼的兒子迦勒；亞巴是亞衲人的祖先。基列．亞巴就是希伯崙。迦勒把亞衲人的三個子孫，就是示篩、亞希幔、撻買，從那裡趕出去；他們是亞衲人的後代。

猶大人又去攻擊住在希伯崙的迦南人，殺了示篩、亞希幔和撻買；希伯崙從前名叫基列．亞巴。

那時約書亞來了，把在山地、希伯崙、底璧、亞拿伯、整個猶大山地、整個以色列山地所有的亞衲族人都剪除了。約書亞把他們與他們的城鎮都完全毀滅了。在以色列人的境內，沒有留下一個亞衲族人，只在迦薩、迦特和亞實突還有餘下的。

大衛在希伯崙作王統治猶大家的時候共有七年零六個月。

瑣安的領袖都變為愚昧，挪弗的領袖都受了欺騙；那些在埃及支派中作房角石的，使埃及人走錯了路。

這事以後，大衛求問耶和華說：“我可以上猶大的一座城去嗎？”耶和華回答：“你上去吧。”大衛又問：“我應該上到哪裡去呢？”他回答：“上希伯崙去！”

撒拉死在迦南地的基列．亞巴，就是希伯崙；亞伯拉罕進去為撒拉哀慟哭號。

在那裡我們看見了巨人，就是亞衲人的子孫，是巨人的後裔；我們看自己好像是蚱蜢，他們看我們也是這樣。”

於是約書亞給迦勒祝福，把希伯崙賜給了耶孚尼的兒子迦勒作產業。因此，希伯崙成了基尼洗人耶孚尼的兒子迦勒的產業，直到今日；因為他完全順從耶和華以色列的神。希伯崙從前名叫基列．亞巴；亞巴是亞衲人中最偉大的人。全地也就止息了戰爭。

以色列人把誤殺人者的避難城希伯崙，和希伯崙的郊野，又把立拿和立拿的郊野給了亞倫祭司的子孫，
