琐安的领袖非常愚昧，法老那些最有智慧的谋士所筹算的，都成为愚昧。你们怎能对法老说：“我是智慧人的儿子，是古代君王的后裔”呢？

他们的领袖虽然已在琐安，他们的使臣虽然已到达哈内斯，

约书亚照着耶和华所吩咐的，把犹大人的一份地业，就是基列．亚巴，分给了耶孚尼的儿子迦勒；亚巴是亚衲人的祖先。基列．亚巴就是希伯仑。迦勒把亚衲人的三个子孙，就是示筛、亚希幔、挞买，从那里赶出去；他们是亚衲人的后代。

犹大人又去攻击住在希伯仑的迦南人，杀了示筛、亚希幔和挞买；希伯仑从前名叫基列．亚巴。

那时约书亚来了，把在山地、希伯仑、底璧、亚拿伯、整个犹大山地、整个以色列山地所有的亚衲族人都剪除了。约书亚把他们与他们的城镇都完全毁灭了。在以色列人的境内，没有留下一个亚衲族人，只在迦萨、迦特和亚实突还有余下的。

摩西派他们去窥探迦南地，对他们说：“你们要从这里上南地，然后上山地去。

于是，亚伯兰渐渐挪移帐棚，来到希伯仑幔利的橡树附近，在那里居住，也在那里为耶和华筑了一座祭坛。

大卫在希伯仑作王统治犹大家的时候共有七年零六个月。

这事以后，大卫求问耶和华说：“我可以上犹大的一座城去吗？”耶和华回答：“你上去吧。”大卫又问：“我应该上到哪里去呢？”他回答：“上希伯仑去！”

撒拉死在迦南地的基列．亚巴，就是希伯仑；亚伯拉罕进去为撒拉哀恸哭号。

在那里我们看见了巨人，就是亚衲人的子孙，是巨人的后裔；我们看自己好像是蚱蜢，他们看我们也是这样。”

于是约书亚给迦勒祝福，把希伯仑赐给了耶孚尼的儿子迦勒作产业。因此，希伯仑成了基尼洗人耶孚尼的儿子迦勒的产业，直到今日；因为他完全顺从耶和华以色列的神。希伯仑从前名叫基列．亚巴；亚巴是亚衲人中最伟大的人。全地也就止息了战争。

以色列人把误杀人者的避难城希伯仑，和希伯仑的郊野，又把立拿和立拿的郊野给了亚伦祭司的子孙，
