永恆主授職與嫩的兒子約書亞說：『你要剛強壯膽，因為是你要領以色列人進我向他們起誓應許的地，是我要和你同在。』

我必在美好草場牧養他們；他們的圈必在以色列高地的山上；在那裏他們可以在美好的圈裏躺臥着，也可以在以色列山上、在肥美草場上喫草。

他們攻取了堡壘城、肥沃的地土，取得了裝滿各樣財物的房屋、鑿成的水池、葡萄園、橄欖園、產食物的樹很多；他們喫得飽足，身體發胖，因你的大恩而安逸享樂。

他們在本國中、雖有了你所賜的洪福，又在你所擺在他們面前這廣大而肥沃之地上，他們卻不事奉你，也不轉離他們的壞行為。

耶利哥王打發人去找喇合說：『把那些來找你、進了你家的人交出來，因為他們是來偵察全境的。

二人去到山地上，在那裏住了三天，等到追趕的人返回。追趕的人一路尋找他們，卻找不着。二人就下山返回，過了河，去見嫩的兒子約書亞，向他敘說所遭遇的一切事。

你要剛強壯膽，因為是你要使這人民承受我向他們列祖起誓應許給他們、的地以為業。

有禍啊我！我好像夏天的果子已被收盡，好像割取了葡萄剩下的零碎，沒有一掛可喫的，也沒有我心所羨慕的早熟無花果。

他們來到以實各谷；從那裏砍了一根枝子，上頭有一掛葡萄，須要兩個人用杠抬着。他們還帶了些石榴和無花果來。為了以色列人從那裏砍下來的那掛葡萄，那地方才叫做以實各谷。

我不是剛吩咐你麼？你要剛強壯膽；不要驚恐，不要驚慌；因為你無論往哪裏去、永恆主你的上帝和你同在。』

他們手裏拿着那地的果子下來見我們，回報我們、說：「永恆主我們的上帝所賜給我們的是個美好之地。」

所以我們可以放膽說：『主是援助我的，我必不懼怕；人能把我怎麼樣呢？』

你們要剛強壯膽；不要懼怕，不要因他們而驚恐，因為是永恆主你的上帝他與你同走；他必不放開你，不丟棄你。』摩西把約書亞召了來，在以色列眾人眼前對他說：『你要剛強壯膽，因為是你要領這人民進永恆主向他們列祖起誓給予他們的地，是你要使他們承受那地為業的。是永恆主他在你前面領路，他與你同在；他必不放開你，不丟棄你；你不要懼怕，不要驚慌。』

不過呢、願永恆主賜給你見識和明達，使他所委任你管理以色列的、你都謹守永恆主你的上帝的律法。

迦勒在摩西面前叫人民安靜下來、說：『我們立刻上去、取得那地吧！我們足能勝過它。』但是那些和他一同上去的人說：『我們不能上去攻擊那民族，因為他們比我們強壯。』
