They captured fortified cities and fertile land and took possession of well-supplied houses, cisterns cut out of rock, vineyards, olive groves, and fruit trees in abundance. They ate, were filled, became prosperous, and delighted in your great goodness.

When they were in their kingdom, with your abundant goodness that you gave them, and in the spacious and fertile land you set before them, they would not serve you or turn from their wicked ways.

Then the king of Jericho sent word to Rahab and said,“ Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, for they came to investigate the entire land.”

So the two men went into the hill country and stayed there three days until the pursuers had returned. They searched all along the way, but did not find them.Then the men returned, came down from the hill country, and crossed the Jordan. They went to Joshua son of Nun and reported everything that had happened to them.

When they came to Eshcol Valley, they cut down a branch with a single cluster of grapes, which was carried on a pole by two men. They also took some pomegranates and figs.That place was called Eshcol Valley because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut there.

Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

They took some of the fruit from the land in their hands, carried it down to us, and brought us back a report:‘ The land the LORD our God is giving us is good.’

Therefore, we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

“ Now, my son, may the LORD be with you, and may you succeed in building the house of the LORD your God, as he said about you.

Then Caleb quieted the people in the presence of Moses and said,“ Let’s go up now and take possession of the land because we can certainly conquer it!”But the men who had gone up with him responded,“ We can’t attack the people because they are stronger than we are!”
