耶和華吩咐嫩的兒子約書亞，說：“你當堅強勇敢，因為你要領以色列人進我向他們起誓應許的地，我必與你同在。”

我必在美好的草場上牧養牠們，以色列的高山必作牧放牠們的地方。在那裡牠們必躺臥在美好的牧場上，牠們必在以色列群山肥美的草場上吃草。

他們奪取了堅固的城、肥沃的土地，獲得了滿載各樣財寶的房屋、挖好的水井、葡萄園、橄欖園和很多果樹；他們吃得飽足，身體發胖，因你的大恩生活安逸快樂。

他們在本國中，享受你賜給他們的大福，在你擺在他們面前這廣大肥沃的地上，卻不事奉你，不轉離他們的惡行。

耶利哥王派人到喇合那裡，說：“把那些來到你這裡，進了你家中的人帶出來，因為他們來是要窺探全地的。”

二人離去，上到山上，在那裡住了三天，等追趕的人回城去了；追趕的人一路搜尋他們，卻找不著。二人於是下山回去，過了約旦河，回到嫩的兒子約書亞那裡，把他們遭遇的一切事向他報告。

你要堅強勇敢，因為你必使這人民得著我曾經向他們列祖起誓，要賜給他們的那地作產業。

我有禍了！因為我好像夏天採摘的果子，又像摘剩的葡萄，沒有一掛可吃的，也沒有我心所想望早熟的無花果。

他們來到以實各谷，從那裡砍下了一根葡萄枝子，上頭只有一掛葡萄，兩個人用槓抬著回來；他們也帶了些石榴和無花果回來。因為以色列人從那裡砍來的那掛葡萄，所以那地方叫作以實各谷。

我不是吩咐過你要堅強勇敢嗎？所以，你不要懼怕，也不要驚慌；因為你無論到哪裡去，耶和華你的神必與你同在。”

他們手裡拿著那地的果子，帶下來到我們這裡，並且向我們回報，說：‘耶和華我們的神要賜給我們的地是美地。’

所以我們可以放膽說：“主是我的幫助，我決不害怕，人能把我怎麼樣呢？”

你們要堅強勇敢；不要害怕，也不要因他們畏懼，因為耶和華你的神與你同去；他決不撇下你，也不離棄你。”摩西把約書亞召了來，在以色列眾人面前對他說：“你要堅強勇敢，因為你要和這人民一同進入耶和華向他們的列祖起誓，應許要賜給他們的地；你也要使他們得著那地為業。耶和華親自在你前頭行，與你同在；他決不撇下你，也不離棄你；你不要害怕，也不要驚慌。”

深願耶和華賜你聰明和智慧，使你治理以色列的時候，謹守耶和華你的神的律法。

迦勒在摩西面前使眾人鎮靜，說：“我們立刻上去，佔領那地吧！因為我們必能得勝。”但是，那些與他同去的人卻說：“我們不能上去攻擊那民，因為他們比我們強。”
