耶和華囑咐嫩的兒子約書亞：「你要剛強勇敢，因為你要帶領以色列人進入我起誓應許他們的土地，我必與你同在。」

我要在佳美的草場上牧養他們，以色列的山嶺必成為他們的草場。他們要在佳美的草場上安臥，在以色列山嶺的肥美草場上吃草。

他們奪取堅固的城池、肥沃的土地、裝滿美物的房屋、挖好的水井、葡萄園、橄欖園以及各樣的果樹。他們吃得飽足，身體發胖，享受你的厚恩。

他們即使在本國，在你賜給他們廣闊肥沃的土地上得享你的厚恩，也不事奉你，不離開惡道。

耶利哥王便派人到喇合那裡，對她說：「把來到你家裡的人交出來，因為他們是來刺探我們的。」

二人到山上躲藏了三天，等待追捕的人回去。追捕的人沿途搜索，毫無所獲，便回去了。二人便下山，過河回到嫩的兒子約書亞那裡，向他稟告整個經過，

你要剛強勇敢，因為你要帶領這些人佔領我起誓賜給他們祖先的土地。

我真悲慘！就像夏天的果子已被收盡，葡萄已被摘淨，找不到一串可吃的，尋不見我心中渴望的初熟無花果。

他們來到以實各谷，在那裡砍下一根葡萄枝，上面有一串葡萄，由兩個人用杠子抬著，又採了一些石榴和無花果。因為他們在那裡砍了一串葡萄，所以就稱那地方為以實各谷。

我再次吩咐你，要剛強勇敢！不要害怕，也不要灰心，因為你無論走到哪裡，你的上帝耶和華必與你同在。」

他們帶回來一些那裡的果子，稟告說，『我們的上帝耶和華賜給我們的地方很好。』

這樣，我們可以放膽地說：「主是我的幫助，我必不懼怕，人能把我怎麼樣？」

你們要剛強勇敢，不要怕他們，因為你們的上帝耶和華與你們同在，祂不會撇下你們，也不會離棄你們。」摩西把約書亞叫來，當著全體以色列人的面對他說：「你要剛強勇敢！因為你要帶領百姓進入耶和華起誓賜給他們祖先的土地，把土地分給他們。耶和華必帶領你，與你同在。祂不會撇下你，也不會離棄你。不要害怕，也不要沮喪。」

「兒啊，願耶和華與你同在，使你亨通，照你的上帝耶和華的吩咐去建造祂的殿。

迦勒讓站在摩西面前的民眾安靜，然後說：「我們立刻去佔領那地方吧！我們必能取勝。」跟他一起去打探的人卻說：「我們不能去攻打那些人，他們比我們強大。」
