門徒說：「我們在這野地，哪裏有這麼多的餅讓這許多人吃飽呢？」

撒迦利亞對天使說：「我怎麼能知道這事呢？我已經老了，我的妻子也年紀老邁了。」

耶穌回答他們說：「你們給他們吃吧！」門徒對他說：「我們要拿兩百個銀幣去買餅給他們吃嗎？」

門徒回答：「在這野地，從哪裏能得餅使這些人吃飽呢？」

有一個攙扶王的軍官回答神人說：「看哪，即使耶和華打開天上的窗戶，也不可能有這事。」以利沙說：「看哪，你必親眼看見，在那裏卻吃不到甚麼。」

馬利亞對天使說：「我沒有出嫁，怎麼會有這事呢？」

「這裏有一個孩子，帶着五個大麥餅和兩條魚，但是分給這麼多人還算甚麼呢？」

他說這話是要考驗腓力，他自己原知道要怎樣做。腓力回答他：「就是兩百個銀幣的餅也不夠給他們每人吃一點點。」
