門徒對他說：『我們在這野地哪裏有這麼多餅，讓這麼多的羣眾喫飽呢？』

撒迦利亞對天使說：『我憑甚麼可以知道這事呢？我已經老了，我的妻子年紀也老邁了。』

耶穌回答他們說：『你們、給他們喫。』他們對他說：『我們要去買二百日工錢的餅，給他們喫麼？』

門徒回答他說：『這兒在曠野，人從哪裏能得餅，使這些人喫飽呢？』

有一個職司手扶攙王、的軍官回答神人說：『除非永恆主在天上開了罅隙，哪裏有這事呢？』以利沙說：『你就看吧，你必親眼看見，卻喫不着。』

馬利亞對天使說，『我沒有和男人親近，怎會有這事呢？』

『這裏有一個孩童有五個大麥餅和兩條小魚；只有這一點兒要給這麼多的人，還算得甚麼？』

他說這話、是要試試腓力；因為他自己已經知道將要怎麼辦了。腓力回答耶穌說：『二百日工錢的餅讓各人拿一點兒，也是不夠他們喫啊。』
