七個祭司要背着七個羊號角在約櫃前面；第七天你們要繞城七次，祭司們要吹號角。當羊角聲拉長、你們聽見號角聲的時候，眾民要大聲吶喊，城牆就會當場陷落；眾民都要上去，各人往前直上。』於是嫩的兒子約書亞把祭司們叫了來，對他們說：『你們抬起約櫃；要有七個祭司背着七個羊號角在永恆主的櫃前面。』他又對人民說：『你們要往前走去繞城；武裝的人要在永恆主的櫃前面往前走。』按照約書亞對人民所說的，七個祭司背着七個羊號角，要在永恆主前面往前走，吹號角，永恆主的約櫃在他們後面跟着走。武裝的人在吹號角的祭司們前面走，後隊在櫃的後面跟着走，一面走一面吹着號角。約書亞吩咐人民說：『你們不要吶喊；別讓人聽見你們的聲音；一句話也不可出口；等到我吩咐你們「吶喊」的那一天，你們才可以吶喊。』這樣，他使永恆主的櫃繞城；圍繞了一次，眾人就到營中，在營中住宿。約書亞清早起來，祭司也抬起永恆主的櫃來。那背着七個羊號角的七個祭司在永恆主的櫃前面繼續地走，吹着號角；武裝的人在他們前面走，後隊在永恆主的櫃後面跟着走；祭司一面走，一面吹號角。第二天眾人繞城一次，就回到營中；他們這樣行了六天。第七天、天快亮的時候、他們清早起來，照這樣繞了城七次；只有這一天才繞城七次。到了第七次、祭司們吹了號角，約書亞就對人民說：『吶喊；永恆主已經把城交給你們了。

你看，是上帝在頭裏率領我們，和我們同在，他的祭司也拿着號筒大聲吹來攻擊你們。以色列人哪，不要同永恆主你們列祖的上帝交戰哦；因為你們是絕不能成功的。』耶羅波安卻使伏兵從猶大人後頭而來；這樣，以色列人竟在猶大人前面，而伏兵又在猶大人後頭。猶大人一轉臉，見前後都得交戰，就向永恆主哀叫，祭司們也吹號筒。於是猶大人吶喊；猶大人吶喊的時候，上帝就把耶羅波安和以色列眾人擊敗在亞比雅和猶大人面前了。

祭司比拿雅和雅哈悉在上帝的約櫃前不斷地吹號筒。
