But Hobab said to him,“ I will not go, but I will go instead to my own land and to my kindred.”

He answered,“ No, I will not go; I am going back to my own land and my own people.”

Hobab answered,“ No. I can’t go. I’m going back to my own land. I’m returning to my own people.”

But he said to him,“ I will not go. I will depart to my own land and to my kindred.”

But Hobab replied,“ No, I will not go. I must return to my own land and family.”

But he replied to him,“ I don’t want to go. Instead, I will go to my own land and my relatives.”

But he said to him,“ I will not come, but rather will go to my own land and relatives.”

And he said to him,“ I will not go, but I will depart to my own land and to my relatives.”

And he said unto him, I will not go; but I will depart to mine own land, and to my kindred.

But he replied to him,“ I don’t want to go. Instead, I will go to my own land and my relatives.”

And he said unto him, I will not go; but I will depart to mine own land, and to my kindred.

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place he would later receive as an inheritance, and he went out without understanding where he was going.

“ If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother, and wife and children, and brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.

So Naomi said,“ Look, your sister-in-law is returning to her people and to her god. Follow your sister-in-law back home!”But Ruth replied,“ Stop urging me to abandon you! For wherever you go, I will go. Wherever you live, I will live. Your people will become my people, and your God will become my God.Wherever you die, I will die– and there I will be buried. May the LORD punish me severely if I do not keep my promise! Only death will be able to separate me from you!”

The boy answered,‘ I will not.’ But later he had a change of heart and went.

Now I understand that you have gone away because you longed desperately for your father’s house. Yet why did you steal my gods?”

Now the LORD said to Abram,“ Go out from your country, your relatives, and your father’s household to the land that I will show you.

These all died in faith without receiving the things promised, but they saw them in the distance and welcomed them and acknowledged that they were strangers and foreigners on the earth.

So then from now on we acknowledge no one from an outward human point of view. Even though we have known Christ from such a human point of view, now we do not know him in that way any longer.

Listen, O princess! Observe and pay attention! Forget your homeland and your family!
