On the fourth day Elizur the son of Shedeur, prince of the children of Reuben,[ did offer]:

And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you[ that] which shall befall you in the last days.Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.Reuben, thou[ art] my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou[ it]: he went up to my couch.Simeon and Levi[ are] brethren; instruments of cruelty[ are in] their habitations.O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.Cursed[ be] their anger, for[ it was] fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.Judah, thou[ art he] whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand[ shall be] in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.Judah[ is] a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him[ shall] the gathering of the people[ be].Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:His eyes[ shall be] red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he[ shall be] for an haven of ships; and his border[ shall be] unto Zidon.Issachar[ is] a strong ass couching down between two burdens:And he saw that rest[ was] good, and the land that[ it was] pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD.Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.Out of Asher his bread[ shall be] fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.Naphtali[ is] a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.Joseph[ is] a fruitful bough,[ even] a fruitful bough by a well;[ whose] branches run over the wall:The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot[ at him], and hated him:But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty[ God] of Jacob;( from thence[ is] the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)[ Even] by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.Benjamin shall ravin[ as] a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.All these[ are] the twelve tribes of Israel: and this[ is it] that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that[ is] in the field of Ephron the Hittite,In the cave that[ is] in the field of Machpelah, which[ is] before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.The purchase of the field and of the cave that[ is] therein[ was] from the children of Heth.And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.

And Bilhah conceived, and bare Jacob a son.And Rachel said, God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan.And Bilhah Rachel’s maid conceived again, and bare Jacob a second son.And Rachel said, With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali.When Leah saw that she had left bearing, she took Zilpah her maid, and gave her Jacob to wife.And Zilpah Leah’s maid bare Jacob a son.And Leah said, A troop cometh: and she called his name Gad.And Zilpah Leah’s maid bare Jacob a second son.And Leah said, Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed: and she called his name Asher.And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son’s mandrakes.And she said unto her,[ Is it] a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son’s mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to night for thy son’s mandrakes.And Jacob came out of the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in unto me; for surely I have hired thee with my son’s mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived, and bare Jacob the fifth son.And Leah said, God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband: and she called his name Issachar.And Leah conceived again, and bare Jacob the sixth son.And Leah said, God hath endued me[ with] a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun.

And these[ are] the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn.And the sons of Reuben; Hanoch, and Phallu, and Hezron, and Carmi.And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman.And the sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.And the sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zerah: but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.And the sons of Issachar; Tola, and Phuvah, and Job, and Shimron.And the sons of Zebulun; Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel.These[ be] the sons of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob in Padanaram, with his daughter Dinah: all the souls of his sons and his daughters[ were] thirty and three.And the sons of Gad; Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli.And the sons of Asher; Jimnah, and Ishuah, and Isui, and Beriah, and Serah their sister: and the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel.These[ are] the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter, and these she bare unto Jacob,[ even] sixteen souls.The sons of Rachel Jacob’s wife; Joseph, and Benjamin.And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.And the sons of Benjamin[ were] Belah, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera, and Naaman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard.These[ are] the sons of Rachel, which were born to Jacob: all the souls[ were] fourteen.And the sons of Dan; Hushim.And the sons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem.

And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Surely the LORD hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because the LORD hath heard that I[ was] hated, he hath therefore given me this[ son] also: and she called his name Simeon.And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing.

And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing,( for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which[ is] Bethlehem.And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that[ is] the pillar of Rachel’s grave unto this day.And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine: and Israel heard[ it]. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin:And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:And the sons of Zilpah, Leah’s handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these[ are] the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padanaram.

And I heard the number of them which were sealed:[ and there were] sealed an hundred[ and] forty[ and] four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.Of the tribe of Juda[ were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben[ were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad[ were] sealed twelve thousand.Of the tribe of Aser[ were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim[ were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses[ were] sealed twelve thousand.Of the tribe of Simeon[ were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi[ were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar[ were] sealed twelve thousand.Of the tribe of Zabulon[ were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph[ were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin[ were] sealed twelve thousand.

And the standard of the camp of Reuben set forward according to their armies: and over his host[ was] Elizur the son of Shedeur.

And this[ is] the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand[ went] a fiery law for them.Yea, he loved the people; all his saints[ are] in thy hand: and they sat down at thy feet;[ every one] shall receive of thy words.Moses commanded us a law,[ even] the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.And he was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people[ and] the tribes of Israel were gathered together.Let Reuben live, and not die; and let[ not] his men be few.And this[ is the blessing] of Judah: and he said, Hear, LORD, the voice of Judah, and bring him unto his people: let his hands be sufficient for him; and be thou an help[ to him] from his enemies.And of Levi he said,[ Let] thy Thummim and thy Urim[ be] with thy holy one, whom thou didst prove at Massah,[ and with] whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah;Who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant.They shall teach Jacob thy judgments, and Israel thy law: they shall put incense before thee, and whole burnt sacrifice upon thine altar.Bless, LORD, his substance, and accept the work of his hands: smite through the loins of them that rise against him, and of them that hate him, that they rise not again.[ And] of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him;[ and the LORD] shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.And of Joseph he said, Blessed of the LORD[ be] his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath,And for the precious fruits[ brought forth] by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon,And for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the lasting hills,And for the precious things of the earth and fulness thereof, and[ for] the good will of him that dwelt in the bush: let[ the blessing] come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him[ that was] separated from his brethren.His glory[ is like] the firstling of his bullock, and his horns[ are like] the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they[ are] the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they[ are] the thousands of Manasseh.And of Zebulun he said, Rejoice, Zebulun, in thy going out; and, Issachar, in thy tents.They shall call the people unto the mountain; there they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness: for they shall suck[ of] the abundance of the seas, and[ of] treasures hid in the sand.And of Gad he said, Blessed[ be] he that enlargeth Gad: he dwelleth as a lion, and teareth the arm with the crown of the head.And he provided the first part for himself, because there,[ in] a portion of the lawgiver,[ was he] seated; and he came with the heads of the people, he executed the justice of the LORD, and his judgments with Israel.And of Dan he said, Dan[ is] a lion’s whelp: he shall leap from Bashan.And of Naphtali he said, O Naphtali, satisfied with favour, and full with the blessing of the LORD: possess thou the west and the south.And of Asher he said,[ Let] Asher[ be] blessed with children; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil.Thy shoes[ shall be] iron and brass; and as thy days,[ so shall] thy strength[ be].[ There is] none like unto the God of Jeshurun,[ who] rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky.The eternal God[ is thy] refuge, and underneath[ are] the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy[ them].Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob[ shall be] upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew.Happy[ art] thou, O Israel: who[ is] like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who[ is] the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.

On the south side[ shall be] the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies: and the captain of the children of Reuben[ shall be] Elizur the son of Shedeur.

Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt[ already].
