凡過去歸那些被數之人的，從二十歲以外，有六十萬零三千五百五十人。按聖所的平，每人出銀半舍客勒，就是一比加。

「你們要將以色列全會眾，按他們的宗族，凡以色列中從二十歲以外、能出去打仗的，計算總數。」摩西和祭司以利亞撒在摩押平原與耶利哥相對的約旦河邊向以色列人說：「將你們中間從二十歲以外的計算總數」；是照耶和華吩咐出埃及地的摩西和以色列人的話。

西緬子孫的後代，照着家室、宗族、人名的數目，從二十歲以外，凡能出去打仗、被數的男丁，共有五萬九千三百名。

以色列的眾子，各帶家眷，和雅各一同來到埃及。他們的名字記在下面。有呂便、西緬、利未、猶大、以薩迦、西布倫、便雅憫、但、拿弗他利、迦得、亞設。凡從雅各而生的，共有七十人。約瑟已經在埃及。

撒但起來攻擊以色列人，激動大衛數點他們。大衛就吩咐約押和民中的首領說：「你們去數點以色列人，從別是巴直到但，回來告訴我，我好知道他們的數目。」

雅各叫了他的兒子們來，說：「你們都來聚集，我好把你們日後必遇的事告訴你們。雅各的兒子們，你們要聚集而聽，要聽你們父親以色列的話。呂便哪，你是我的長子，是我力量強壯的時候生的，本當大有尊榮，權力超眾。

這些就是被摩西和祭司以利亞撒所數的；他們在摩押平原與耶利哥相對的約旦河邊數點以色列人。但被數的人中，沒有一個是摩西和祭司亞倫從前在西奈的曠野所數的以色列人，

耶和華又向以色列人發怒，就激動大衛，使他吩咐人去數點以色列人和猶大人。大衛就吩咐跟隨他的元帥約押說：「你去走遍以色列眾支派，從但直到別是巴，數點百姓，我好知道他們的數目。」約押對王說：「無論百姓多少，願耶和華－你的神再加增百倍，使我主我王親眼得見。我主我王何必喜悅行這事呢？」

猶大子孫的後代，照着家室、宗族、人名的數目，從二十歲以外，凡能出去打仗、被數的，共有七萬四千六百名。

以色列人二十歲以內的，大衛沒有記其數目；因耶和華曾應許說，必加增以色列人如天上的星那樣多。洗魯雅的兒子約押動手數點，當時耶和華的烈怒臨到以色列人；因此，沒有點完，數目也沒有寫在大衛王記上。

以色列人家長的名字記在下面。以色列長子呂便的兒子是哈諾、法路、希斯倫、迦米；這是呂便的各家。西緬的兒子是耶母利、雅憫、阿轄、雅斤、瑣轄，和迦南女子的兒子掃羅；這是西緬的各家。利未眾子的名字按着他們的後代記在下面：就是革順、哥轄、米拉利。利未一生的歲數是一百三十七歲。革順的兒子按着家室是立尼、示每。哥轄的兒子是暗蘭、以斯哈、希伯倫、烏薛。哥轄一生的歲數是一百三十三歲。米拉利的兒子是抹利和母示；這是利未的家，都按着他們的後代。
