主天主歟、昔選亞伯蘭、導之出迦勒底之吾珥、賜名亞伯拉罕、

“ You are the Lord God, who chose Abram and brought him out of Ur of the Chaldeans and named him Abraham.

他拉带着他儿子亚伯兰和他孙子，哈兰的儿子罗得，以及他的媳妇，亚伯兰的妻子撒莱，一同出了迦勒底的吾珥，要往迦南地去；他们来到哈兰，就住在那里。

从今以后，你的名字不再叫亚伯兰，要叫亚伯拉罕，因为我已经立你作多国之父。

约书亚对众百姓说：“耶和华—以色列的上帝如此说：‘古时你们的列祖，就是亚伯拉罕和拿鹤的父亲他拉，住在大河那边事奉别神。我将你们的祖宗亚伯拉罕从大河那边带出来，领他走遍迦南全地，又使他的子孙众多。我把以撒赐给他，

耶和华对亚伯兰说：“你要离开本地、本族、父家，往我所要指示你的地去。我必使你成为大国，我必赐福给你，使你的名为大；你要使别人得福。

司提反说：“诸位父老弟兄请听！从前我们的祖宗亚伯拉罕在美索不达米亚，还没有住在哈兰的时候，荣耀的上帝向他显现，对他说：‘你要离开本地和亲族，往我所要指示你的地去。’他就离开迦勒底人的地方，住在哈兰。他父亲死了以后，上帝使他从那里搬到你们现在所住的地方。

然而，耶和华专爱你的列祖，爱他们，从万民中拣选你们，就是他们的后裔，像今日一样。

要追想你们的祖宗亚伯拉罕和生你们的撒拉；因为我选召亚伯拉罕时，他只有一个人，但我赐福给他，使他增多。

惟你以色列，我的仆人，雅各，我所拣选的，我朋友亚伯拉罕的后裔，你是我从地极领来，从地角召来的，我对你说：“你是我的仆人；我拣选你，并不弃绝你。”

耶和华又对他说：“我是耶和华，曾领你出迦勒底的吾珥，为要把这地赐你为业。”
