For many years you were patient with them. By your Spirit you warned them through your prophets. Yet they paid no attention, so you gave them into the hands of the neighboring peoples.

For many years you put up with them. By your Spirit you warned them through your prophets. In spite of that, they didn’t pay any attention. So you handed them over to the nations that were around them.

Many years you bore with them and warned them by your Spirit through your prophets. Yet they would not give ear. Therefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.

In your love, you were patient with them for many years. You sent your Spirit, who warned them through the prophets. But still they wouldn’t listen! So once again you allowed the peoples of the land to conquer them.

However, You remained patient with them for many years, And admonished them by Your Spirit through Your prophets, Yet they would not listen. Therefore You handed them over to the peoples of the lands.

“你們頸項剛硬、心和耳都未受割禮的人哪！你們時常抗拒聖靈，你們的祖先怎樣，你們也怎樣。

誰把雅各交出來給掠奪者？誰把以色列交給搶劫的呢？豈不是耶和華，就是我們得罪的那位嗎？因為他們不肯遵行他的道，也不肯聽從他的律法。

就是把他們心裡基督的靈所預先見證，關於基督要受苦難後來得榮耀，是在甚麼時候和怎樣的情況加以考察。

因為預言不是出於人意的，而是人受聖靈的感動，說出從神而來的話。

還是你藐視神豐富的恩慈、寬容和忍耐，不曉得他的恩慈是要領你悔改的嗎？

現在我告訴你們，我要怎樣處理我的葡萄園：我要把它的籬笆撤去，使它被吞滅；我要把它的圍牆拆毀，使它被踐踏。我要使它荒廢，不再修剪，也不再耕耘，荊棘和蒺藜卻要長起來；我也要吩咐雲不再降雨在園子上。

我曾呼喚他們，他們不聽；照樣，將來他們呼求我，我也不聽。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。

耶和華作成了他定意去作的，成就了他的話，就是他昔日所宣告的，他把你拆毀，並不憐惜，他使仇敵因勝過你而高興，他高舉你敵人的角。

可是，他們竟然悖逆，使他的聖靈憂傷；所以他轉作他們的仇敵，親自攻擊他們。

你警告他們，要他們轉向你的律法；但他們狂妄自大，不聽從你的誡命，犯罪干犯你的典章。人應遵行這些典章，按照它們生活，他們卻固執地扭轉肩頭，硬著頸項，不肯聽從。

“可是他們竟悖逆，背叛你，把你的律法丟在背後，殺害那些控告他們，要他們歸向你的先知，犯了褻瀆的大罪。

耶和華曾藉著他的眾先知和先見警告以色列人和猶大人說：“從你們的惡道上轉回吧！謹守我的吩咐和我的律例，就是我曾吩咐你們的祖先，和藉著我的僕人眾先知傳遞給你們的一切律法。”可是他們不聽從，反而硬著自己的頸項，好像他們的祖先，不信服耶和華他們的神；厭棄他的律例和他與他們的祖先訂立的約，以及他對他們的警戒；卻信從虛無的神，自己成為虛妄，跟從他們周圍的外族人，耶和華曾吩咐他們不可跟從他們的行為。他們丟棄耶和華他們神的一切吩咐，為自己做了兩個牛犢的鑄像，又做亞舍拉，並且敬拜天上的萬象和服事巴力；他們又把兒女用火燒為祭，並且占卜，行法術，出賣自己去行耶和華看為惡的事，使他發怒。於是耶和華向以色列人大大發怒，把他們從自己面前趕走，只剩下猶大一個支派。

耶和華他們列祖的神，因為愛惜自己的子民和居所，就常常差派使者警戒他們。他們卻戲弄神的使者，藐視他的話，譏誚他的先知，以致耶和華的忿怒臨到他的子民身上，直到無法挽救。

自從你們列祖出埃及地的那日直到今日，我差遣我的僕人眾先知到你們那裡去，而且是每日不斷差遣。

護衛長把耶利米提出來，對他說：“耶和華你的神曾說要降這災禍在這地方；現在耶和華使災禍臨到，照他所說的行了；因為你們得罪了耶和華，沒有聽從他的話，所以這事才臨到你們。

但是，主啊！你是有憐憫有恩典的神，你不輕易發怒，並且有極大的慈愛和信實。

他們彼此不合，就分散了。未散以前，保羅說了幾句話：“聖靈藉以賽亞先知對你們祖先所說的，一點不錯。

耶和華雖然不斷差遣他的僕人眾先知到你們那裡去；但你們卻沒有聽從，毫不留心。

耶和華再不能容忍你們邪惡的行為，和你們所行可憎的事；故此，你們的土地荒涼，成了令人驚駭、被人咒詛的對象，沒有人居住，好像今天一樣。

又在曠野容忍（“容忍”有些抄本作“養育”）他們，約有四十年之久；

你賜下良善的靈教導他們；你沒有留住嗎哪不給他們吃；你給他們水解渴。

主決不耽延他的應許，像有些人以為他是耽延的一樣；其實他是寬容你們，不願有一人滅亡，卻願人人都悔改。
