加以訓誨、使服爾律例、彼妄自誇大、不從爾命、爾之法度、遵之者則得生、彼故犯之、強項難馴、背命不聽。

加以警戒、使復服主之律法、乃彼狂妄、不從主之誡命、干犯主之法度、人若遵之必得生、彼乃違背強項、不欲聽從、

“ You warned them in order to turn them back to your law, but they became arrogant and disobeyed your commands. They sinned against your ordinances, of which you said,‘ The person who obeys them will live by them.’ Stubbornly they turned their backs on you, became stiff- necked and refused to listen.

“ You warned them so that they would obey your law again. But they became proud. They didn’t obey your commands. They sinned against your rules. You said,‘ Anyone who obeys my rules will live by them.’ But the people didn’t care about that. They turned their backs on you. They became very stubborn. They refused to listen to you.

And you warned them in order to turn them back to your law. Yet they acted presumptuously and did not obey your commandments, but sinned against your rules, which if a person does them, he shall live by them, and they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not obey.

“ You warned them to return to your Law, but they became proud and obstinate and disobeyed your commands. They did not follow your regulations, by which people will find life if only they obey. They stubbornly turned their backs on you and refused to listen.

And admonished them in order to turn them back to Your Law. And testified against them, That You might bring them back to Your law. Yet they acted proudly, And did not heed Your commandments, But sinned against Your judgments,‘ Which if a man does, he shall live by them.’ And they shrugged their shoulders, Stiffened their necks, And would not hear.

『但是他們、我們的祖宗、狂妄傲慢，硬着脖子，不聽你的誡命，

故此你們要謹守我的律例我的典章：人若遵行典章，就必因這而活着；我是永恆主。

『但他們居然悖逆，竟背叛了你，將你的律法丟在背後，殺害了你的神言人、那些勸告他們回轉歸向你的，而大大犯了褻慢你的罪。

你就施行神迹奇事責罰法老和他所有的臣僕以及他國內的眾民，因為你知道他們怎樣以狂妄傲慢待我們的列祖；你就為自己立了名聲、正如今日一樣。

不，他還賜更大的恩呢；故此經上說：『上帝敵擋狂傲的人，賜恩給謙卑的人』。所以你們要順服上帝，抵擋魔鬼，魔鬼就逃避你們。你們親近上帝，上帝就親近你們。罪人哪，潔淨你們的手吧；心懷二意的人哪，使你們的心清潔吧。你們要愁苦，要哀慟，要哭泣。讓你們的喜笑變為哀慟吧；你們的喜樂變為意氣銷沉吧！你們要在主面前自己謙卑，主就使你們升高。

你們列祖卻不肯留心聽從，反而扭轉肩頭，使耳朵沉重而不聽；使心剛硬如金鋼石、不聽從禮節規律和話語、就是萬軍之永恆主用自己的靈所傳達，由從前的神言人經手所發表的；故此有大震怒從萬軍之永恆主那裏發出。

何沙雅的兒子亞撒利雅和加利亞的兒子約哈難跟一切傲慢悖逆的人就對耶利米說：『你說了假話：永恆主我們的上帝並沒有差遣你來說：「你們不可進埃及去寄居在那裏」呀，

『萬軍之永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：我必將我所說要責罰它的一切災禍降於這城、和屬它的一切城市，因為他們硬着脖子，不聽我的話。』

『從猶大王亞們的兒子約西亞十三年直到今日、這二十三年之內、時常有永恆主的話傳與我，我也對你們傳講，又及時又屢次地傳講，你們卻不聽從。你們總不聽從，不傾耳以聽，雖則永恆主曾差遣了他的眾僕人眾神言人，又及時又屢次地差遣來說：「你們各人要回轉離開各人的壞行徑，離開你們敗壞之行為，住在永恆主從古時所賜給你們和你們列祖的土地，直到永遠；不可隨從別的神、去服事敬拜他們、不可用你們手的製作物來惹我發怒；這樣，我就不加害於你們。」然而你們總不聽從我，只是要用你們手的製作物來惹我發怒，以加害於你們自己：這是永恆主發神諭說的。

然而他們卻不聽從，不傾耳以聽，逕硬着脖子不聽，不接受管教。

但這人民卻不聽從，不傾耳以聽，竟硬着脖子作壞事，比他們列祖還厲害。

因此我藉着神言人砍伐他們，我用我口中說的話殺戮他們，我的判罰如光發出。

直到今日他們還沒有痛悔，沒有懼怕，沒有遵行我在你們和你們列祖面前所設立的律法和條例。

你們要聽，要側耳以聽；不要驕傲；因為是永恆主說的。永恆主你們的上帝還未使黑暗來到，你們的腳還未在昏暗山上碰跌之先，當你們盼望有光之時，他使光變為漆黑，使光成為幽暗之先，你們要承認榮耀屬於永恆主你們的上帝。你們若不聽，我必因你們的驕傲而在暗地裏哭泣；我的眼必痛哭流淚，因為永恆主的羣羊被擄了去。

律法原不是本於信的，它乃是說：『凡行這些法的，必靠着這些法而活着。』

『你奉永恆主的名對我們說的話，我們不聽你。我們一定要實行我們口中所說出的一切話：向天后燻祭，澆奠祭，按着我們和我們列祖、我們的王和首領在猶大城市和耶路撒冷街上素常所行的一樣；那時我們喫飽飯，享福樂，不見災禍呀。

但他心高氣傲，剛愎自用，就從他的國位上黜落下來，他的尊榮就被褫奪。

摩西、亞倫就進去見法老，對他說：『永恆主希伯來人的上帝這麼說：「你不肯在我面前自己謙卑、要到幾時呢？讓我的人民走吧，他們好事奉我。

趕到許多災禍患難找到他們身上去的時候，這首歌、就可以當面作證控訴他們，因為這首歌必不至於被忘掉、而不在他們後裔口中傳誦着；其實我還未領他們進我所起誓應許之地以先，他們今日心裏所作的計畫我都知道了。』

但上帝仍然差遣神言人到他們那裏、去引導他們回轉來歸向永恆主；這些神言人警告他們，他們卻不側耳聽從。

那麼、我今日就呼天喚地來警告你們，你們必定從過約但河取得為業的地上迅速地滅亡；你們在那地必不能延年益壽，總必完全被消滅。

耶穌對他說：『你回答的正對；你這樣行，就必得永生。』

摩西寫着說：『人若行那本着律法的義，就必因着這個而活。』

永恆主他們列祖的上帝因為顧惜他自己的人民和居所，便又及時又屢次地警告、由他的使者經手傳出話來警告他們。

但是永恆主由眾神言人眾先見者經手、屢次警諭以色列人和猶大人說：『應當轉離你們罪的壞行徑，謹守我的誡命律例，照我一切的律法去行，就是我所吩咐你們列祖、並由我僕人神言人們經手傳給你們的。』

我將我的律例賜給他們，將我的典章指示他們知道，就是人若遵行它、必因此而活着的。
