“ Because of your great compassion you did not abandon them in the wilderness. By day the pillar of cloud did not fail to guide them on their path, nor the pillar of fire by night to shine on the way they were to take.

“ Because you loved them so much, you didn’t leave them in the desert. During the day the pillar of cloud didn’t stop guiding them on their path. At night the pillar of fire didn’t stop shining on the way you wanted them to go.

you in your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud to lead them in the way did not depart from them by day, nor the pillar of fire by night to light for them the way by which they should go.

“ But in your great mercy you did not abandon them to die in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud still led them forward by day, and the pillar of fire showed them the way through the night.

you did not abandon them in the wilderness because of your great compassion. During the day the pillar of cloud never turned away from them, guiding them on their journey. And during the night the pillar of fire illuminated the way they should go.

You, in Your great compassion, Did not abandon them in the wilderness; The pillar of cloud did not leave them by day, To guide them on their way, Nor the pillar of fire by night, to light for them the way in which they were to go.

Yet in Your manifold mercies You did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of the cloud did not depart from them by day, To lead them on the road; Nor the pillar of fire by night, To show them light, And the way they should go.

故爾使之困於敵國、遭難之時、彼呼籲爾、爾自天俯聽、矜憫靡涯、累賜扶危之士、不為敵所害。

爾晝導民以雲、夜燭民以火、其狀如柱。

追念聖約、體恤倍至、矜憫靡涯兮。

耶和華導民、無間日夜、晝則導以雲、夜則燭以火、其狀如柱。於是晝有雲、夜有火、弗離於前。

我欲兄弟知、我列祖皆在雲蓋之下、徑行海中、宗摩西受洗於雲海、

張法幕之日、有雲蔽之、自夕達旦、雲見如火、無日不然、晝有雲蔽、夜望若火。雲離會幕、以色列族遄征、雲止之所、以色列族張幕。以色列族遄征張幕、俱遵耶和華命、視雲之蓋會幕、而民處其所、如雲蓋會幕、歷日既久、則以色列族、供耶和華役事而不遄征、如雲蓋會幕、為日無幾、以色列族遵耶和華命而張幕、亦遵耶和華命而遄征。自夕達旦、雲止、及至詰朝雲昇、其昇之時、無論晝夜、遄征勿緩。雲止於會幕、或兩日、或一月、或一年、則以色列族居其所而不動、以待雲昇、然後遄征、

夫我所以不加殲滅者、恐列國之人、以我僅導斯民出於埃及、必將藐視我名。

爾在埃及、丕著異跡、乃余列祖、懵然弗識、罔念爾鴻恩兮、在彼紅海、干爾震怒兮、上帝卒拯救之、彰厥大能、著其仁慈兮、

夫我所以不加殲滅者、恐列國之人、以我僅導斯民出於埃及、必將藐視我名、

我之上帝與、我儕祈禱、非為我義、乃為爾仁慈、求爾垂聽斯邑、為籲爾名之所、今已荒圯、爾其鑒察焉、

雅各家以色列族、我肇厥邦基、為我臣僕、當憶斯理、我不忘爾。

烈日炎熇、驟雨滂沛、亦將覆幬以庇護。

晝則耶和華之雲籠罩幕上、及夜雲狀若火、以色列族遄征時、悉目擊焉。

我乃耶和華永不移易、故爾雅各人、不盡殲滅。

耶和華既歡然、以爾為民、必不汝遐棄、以尊崇己名。

耶和華仁慈是尚、不廢矜憫、故予不亡兮、

我主我上帝矜憫為懷、恆加赦宥、

惟爾上帝、仁慈矜憫、施恩無涯、故不遐棄斯民、滅之務盡。
