然爾矜憫靡涯、不棄斯民於野、晝仍導以雲、夜仍燭以火、其狀如柱、不論何往、時無間絕。

“ Because of your great compassion you did not abandon them in the wilderness. By day the pillar of cloud did not fail to guide them on their path, nor the pillar of fire by night to shine on the way they were to take.

“ Because you loved them so much, you didn’t leave them in the desert. During the day the pillar of cloud didn’t stop guiding them on their path. At night the pillar of fire didn’t stop shining on the way you wanted them to go.

you in your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud to lead them in the way did not depart from them by day, nor the pillar of fire by night to light for them the way by which they should go.

“ But in your great mercy you did not abandon them to die in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud still led them forward by day, and the pillar of fire showed them the way through the night.

you did not abandon them in the wilderness because of your great compassion. During the day the pillar of cloud never turned away from them, guiding them on their journey. And during the night the pillar of fire illuminated the way they should go.

You, in Your great compassion, Did not abandon them in the wilderness; The pillar of cloud did not leave them by day, To guide them on their way, Nor the pillar of fire by night, to light for them the way in which they were to go.

Yet in Your manifold mercies You did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of the cloud did not depart from them by day, To lead them on the road; Nor the pillar of fire by night, To show them light, And the way they should go.

故主付之於敵手、加之以困苦、急難之時、彼呼籲主、主自天俯聽、大發矜憐、屢賜以救者、拯之脫於敵手、

主晝以雲柱導之、夜以火柱照其當行之路、

向其追念己約、回心轉意、大發仁慈、

主先之而行、晝以雲柱、導之行路、夜以火柱、為之光照、俾其晝夜可行、晝之雲柱、夜之火柱、均不離於民前、

兄弟乎、我不欲爾不知、昔我列祖皆在雲下、皆徑行海中、皆在雲及海中受洗以歸摩西、

建法幕之日、有雲蔽法幕、又自夕至旦、如火光現於幕上、晝有雲蔽法幕、夜有火光、恆如此、雲昇離法幕、以色列人啟行、雲所止之處、以色列人列營、列營或作張幕下同以色列人啟行列營、悉遵主命、凡雲覆會幕之日、以色列人則居營中、若雲覆幕歷日既久、則以色列人遵守主所示之命而不啟行、有時雲覆幕數日、民之列營啟行、悉遵主命、有時雲覆幕自夕至旦、迨晨雲昇、民則啟行、有時雲覆會幕一晝夜乃昇、民則啟行、雲覆幕或二日、或一月、或一年之久、則以色列人居其所不啟行、待雲昇、然後啟行、

但因我曾在異邦人目前導之出、故我未行是、恐我名被異邦人褻慢、

我儕列祖在伊及、不明悟主之奇跡、不記憶主之大恩、在紅海邊肆行叛逆、主仍因己之名拯救之、以彰顯大能、

伊及人必將此事告於居迦南地之人、迦南人亦曾聞主處於斯民中、顯現為眾目所睹、以雲蔽之、晝導之以雲柱、夜導之以火柱、

但因我曾在異邦人目前導之出、故我為我名、止手不作、恐我名被異邦人褻慢、

求我天主側耳垂聽、我之土地及歸主名之邑、今已荒蕪、求主啟目鑒察、我祈禱主前、非自有義可恃、乃恃主之大憐憫、

雅各歟、以色列歟、當念斯事、爾原為我僕、我甄陶爾、欲爾為我僕、以色列歟、爾勿忘我、

於是主在遍郇山、及其上一切民會之所、使晝有雲煙、夜有火焰之光輝、凡得尊榮者、必蒙護庇、凡得尊榮者必蒙護庇或作在諸榮華之上將有覆幬亦將有遮庇之處、或作亦將有幕晝可作陰以避暑、亦可為掩蔽之所、以避狂風暴雨、

凡以色列人遄徵、晝有主之雲於幕上、夜有火光於幕內、在以色列眾人之目前、

我耶和華永不永不或作未嘗變易、故爾雅各之後裔、不盡殲滅、

主既歡然選爾為己民、必因其大名不棄爾、

我儕尚不盡滅、乃因主之仁慈、主之矜恤、猶未窮盡、

我儕雖悖逆主我之天主、主仍矜憫赦宥、

惟主大發矜憐、不盡滅之、不盡棄之、因主乃仁慈矜憐之天主、
