They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Therefore you did not desert them,

They refused to listen to you. They forgot the miracles you had done among them. So they became stubborn. When they refused to obey you, they appointed a leader for themselves. They wanted to go back to being slaves in Egypt. But you are a God who forgives. You are gracious. You are tender and kind. You are slow to get angry. You are full of love. So you didn’t desert them.

忘主之作為、及主在其眼前所行之奇事、

惟主至善、赦免罪愆、凡呼籲主者、主為之大施恩惠、

惟主乃矜憐慈愛容忍之天主、大施恩惠、大有誠實、

不思念主曾施大能、不思念往時主曾救之脫離仇敵、當時主在伊及地顯現異能、在瑣安野施行奇跡、

惡人當離其途、不義者當屏除其謀、其謀或作私念歸誠於主、主必矜恤之、當歸誠於我天主、蓋天主廣行赦宥、主曰、我之意迥非爾之意、我之途迥非爾之途、我途高於爾途、我意高於爾意、如天高於地、如天高於地或作如天地懸隔

閱時未久、又忘主之作為、不候主之意旨、

我儕列祖在伊及、不明悟主之奇跡、不記憶主之大恩、在紅海邊肆行叛逆、

主曾云、我耶和華乃忍怒大施恩惠、赦宥愆尤罪過、惟罪當罰、斷無不罰、罰父之罪、以及子孫、至於三四代、主自導此民出伊及以來、常赦宥之、今求主循主大恩、赦其罪愆、

主何欲導我至彼地、使我亡於刃、妻子被擄、莫若仍歸伊及為善、於是相議曰、莫若立一長、以歸伊及、

主發慈愛矜憐、不遽動怒、大施恩寵、不常久責備、不永遠懷怒、未嘗按我之罪惡待我、未嘗依我之過犯報我、敬畏主者、主加倍賜恩、如天離地之高、主除我愆尤、如東極離西極之遠、敬畏主者、主憐恤之、如父之憐恤其子、因主知我之性情、念我不過塵土、世人之歲月如草、其生發如野地之花、一經風吹、便歸無有、其原處亦不復識之、敬畏主、恪守主約、思以遵行主法度者、主必永遠向其施恩、向其子孫永行公義、

爾未導我至流乳與蜜之地、亦未將田畝與葡萄園給我為業、爾欲抉是眾之目乎、我必不來、

民曰、天主歟、何神能比主、主之遺民、主之遺民原文作主業之遺餘者有愆尤罪惡、主乃赦宥之、主以矜憫為悅、不恆懷怒、主必復矜憫我、除我愆尤、以民之諸罪、投諸深淵、

惟主常施赦免、使人敬畏、

故爾雖知此、且堅定於所得之真道、我恆以此諸事使爾憶之、蓋我尚在此幕之時、勸勉爾、使爾憶此諸事、我以為宜然也、因知我幕將速撤、如我主耶穌基督示我者、故我殷勤勸勉爾、使爾於我去世之後、常憶此諸事、

主經行摩西前宣告曰、耶和華乃自有之主、乃矜憐慈愛容忍、大施恩惠、大有誠實之天主、施恩於人、直至千世、或作施恩於千萬人赦愆尤過失罪惡、惟罪當罰者、斷無不罰、為父之罪、罰子孫至三四代、

我必居於以色列人中、不擯棄我民以色列、○

主諭摩西曰、斯民棄我、何時乃已、我在其中、行諸異跡、彼仍不我信、何時乃已、

惟主發慈愛、施憐憫、時常容忍、大賜恩惠、主施恩於萬民、憐恤所創造之萬物、

我列祖弗順從、反拒之、心中欲返伊及、

爾尚不明乎、豈不憶五餅分五千人、而拾餘屑幾筐乎、又不憶七餅分四千人、而拾餘屑幾籃乎、我言當謹防法利賽及撒度該人之酵、此非為餅而言、爾何不明耶、

使人頌其恩寵之榮、即緣其愛子所賜我儕之恩寵、我儕賴彼、以其流血蒙救贖、得罪赦、循天主豐厚之恩寵、

摩西曰、何為違主之命、此事不能亨通、

蓋語摩西曰、我所矜恤者矜恤之、我所憐憫者憐憫之、

慎勿棄語爾者、當時在地傳命者、彼眾棄之、不得免刑、況由天而言者、我儕背之、焉能免刑、

我呼爾、爾不聽、我舉手、人不以為意、
